You're probably younger than me. In the late '50's and early '60's, Mr. Wizard use all sorts of stuff lying around to make stuff that demonstrated science. He was the older generation's Bill Nye.

Blue lights kick ass.

Agreed. The two fans I installed in my Vinotemp have blue lights that turn on when the fans are running. Looks awesome plus I know my fans are doing their job and running when they are supposed to.

I foresee a bunch of gorillas running around the streets looking for discarded old PC's that might have fans.

This is exactly what I need for my frigidor. My temp. stays right at 70 degrees right now, does this unit put out much heat?

The ac adapter creates heat. The fan creates heat.
Both should be minimal, but in an enclosed environment it might become an issue. The smaller the environment, the larger the issue.
Because of that, I used a nice long lead on the adapter just in case Richard had to route the adapter from outside his cabinet.
At this point, all we can do is try it and see what happens.
My guess is that the evaporative cooling action of the moistnaire will counteract any heat created by the box setup.
Once again, all we can do is try it out and see what happens.
I think it'll be perfectly fine.

just got home and this box looks awesome. it also glows blue, can't stop staring at the light. you can already feel the cabinet a little less humid and the box couldn't be any smaller (thought it would be bigger). the man knows his stuff.

Can't wait to hear how it works out.
I'm curious to see if it raises the temp and/or helps with the RH stratification. You would probably see a difference by now.
How bout a pic of it in your humi, and let me know if you need a bag of beads for in there. I can make a special square sized blob that'd go in there nicely.
Oh yeah, I was at Big Lots yesterday and found a 7 day 13 on/off events a day timer. Only paid 5 bucks for it. It'd be perfect for that thing if you need it. That's a little less than half hour increments, you could cycle the fan on for half an hour, then turn it off for however long you want. That'd easily solve the heat issue if one arises.

If it's any help to other handymen, HERE is a link to plenty of computer fans, for cheap money. One with the LED lights costs $3.99.

Shilala, I'm sure I'm missing something, but wouldn't you have to drill a hole in the side of the humi and run the power cord through it to a wall socket?

Nope, not if you ask Richard before you build it and he says he has two receptacles inside his humi.
