Project of the Day : Quickie Humi Fan Box

This is gonna be a quick one.
I just banged this thing together to move some air in Richard's (rrplascencia) humi.
Figured I'd drop a couple picsa so you guys can see how it went together in case you need something like this.
It's an old idea that's been many times, I saw the idea here a long time ago. I just added my own touch to it.

Here go the pics....

That is sweet. Where did you get the fan? Is it from a PC?

That is gonna look good, fits right in to the decor. Awesome!

Ive seen this done before but could never figure out the purpose....Are you supposed to put cigars in the box or do you just use the box to hide the fan to make your collection look better?

Just a way to make an ugly-arse PC fan fit in to the surroundings of your humidor. I think you'd put beads in it, but never cigars.

BTW, I like that Shilala. If I ever needed a fan, I'd go through you. That looks like something you'd purchase at an online store rather than something that got thrown together in a guy's garage. You are quite the innovator and craftsman

Looks awesome Scott! One question, does it run all the time or do you have some sort of timer on it?

Nice stealthly fan mod Shilala! That certainly hides the ugly fan nicely and I bet beads woudl work nicely in there too.

It runs 24/7, although you could easily plug it into one of those Wally timers and set intervals if you wanted to.

Sure. You'd need 12 volts worth, I think that's like 8 D batteries.
I have no idea how long they'd last, either.

Beads in there would be awesome. That fan moves a nice amount of air and would keep a good sized humi or vino rock solid.
I think a pound would fit, too.
I thought about stacking trays full of beads in there, but Richard doesn't need that or want it, and I built it for him.
He just wants to stir some air in the top of his humi and this will work great.

Har! See, I'm not the only one thinking about putting it on a timer.

I checked around, and this might work:

http://www.bedding.com/product/power...ght-timer.html

I'm going to check the local Pet's Smart and see if they have these in stock.

It took me longer to find the fan, box and grills than it took me to make it. Literally.
If I had a hole saw the right size it'd take me about 20 minutes to make one. They're easy, and I have every type of screw, nut, bolt, and wiring devices known to man right in front of me on my workbench.
The whole deal might have taken an hour or so.
