Legend, so what type of figures would you have on a 5.62x46 cigar?

Re: Large Ring Guage
I don't like to smoke cigars over 52rg. I like to stay with 50rg or smaller, my favorites being in the 42 range. Anything in the 54-60 I try to avoid.

Re: Large Ring Guage
I personally like the 50-54, but sometimes venture higher or lower depending on the flavor Im looking for. Some of the smaller gauges are tasty, but I too feel a little funny smoking them (6'3 300lbs). For a Tat Black or Hermosos, I make an exception though.
My favorite size is the 54x5.5 which my current go to 601 Green comes in. Perfect size and balance IMO. |

When I was more noobish than I am now, I also liked a nice fat Torpedo or other 50+ rg smokes. But as part of my evolution in the jungle I came to enjoy the distinct flavor profiles that seemed to be enhanced by the smaller RG's. This seems especially true on the Dark Side. PC's, Corona's and Demi Coronas seem to dominate production. They are like little flavor bombs! I still enjoy a 50+ once in a while but for the most part I am luvin the skinny stuff! ![]()

Re: Large Ring Guage
I too was into larger RG's when i first started out but now i much prefer 50 and under. I'll even go the 30's. When i see people smoke cigars with a RG over 50, it looks like they're practicing to smoke something else (something that rhymes with stick
)

Re: Large Ring Guage
I am a huge fan of small RG cigars. I think the smallest I have right now is a 6.5x38 panatella
All the same, while I don't go for the 6x60 jawbreakers I do love a good diadema now and again. The Camacho havana diadema in particular is a fantastic smoke IMHO. I do like the smooth, cool smoke that comes from a large RG, but without a tapered head it just feels uncomfortable to me.

Re: Large Ring Guage
50rg is as large as I'll go in most cases. I like the 45-48rg zone - big fan of the Corona [Gorda] and the Churchill. It's just uncomfortable and awkward to hold and suck on anything larger than 50rg.
I'm going to go to my B&M to get me, just for the sake of having one, a Puros Indios Indio Chief - 18" x 66rg It's kickass. |

Re: Large Ring Guage
I like large ring gauges over small ones but to a point. I think something like 60 is a bit too much. However, I do prefer 50-56 over the low 40's. But, I still do like something like 42rg and everything in between. I just prefer the thicker ones (um... like that doesn't sound ackward
). Anyhow, I like the cooler smoke that the larger guages seem to give. Also, the draw seems better on average for some reason.Rev. |

Re: Large Ring Guage
Ok. Lets see if I have this correct by my example, with:
Area of the Wrapper = Circumference times the height Area of the filler = Height times (radius squared times pi) Pi = 3.14159 A 5.62x46 stick: 5.62x46/64 x pi = 12.7 sq in 5.62x(46/64 divided by 2) sq x pi = 2.3 12.7: 2.3 or 5.52 A 5.75x54 stick: 5.75x54/64 x pi = 15.2 sq in 5.75x(54/64 divided by 2) sq x pi = 3.2 15.2:3.2 or 4.75 Thus, on the red stick, the ratio is 14% higher of wrapper to filler than the purple stick
