This is a discussion on Quick Question within the General Cigar Discussion forums, part of the The Cigar Lounges at Puff category; this is probably a stupid question, but can you store a cut cigar or will it mess it up?...

Re: Quick Question

Just wondering because i had a Helix and a Chateau Fuente that were already cut and they sat in my humi for about a week, and when i went to smoke them, neither of them would stay lit at all....

As long as it wasnt lit. It will stay just fine.

As for your lighting problem. You humidity is probably to high.

Re: Quick Question

Cutting a cigar before storage hasn't caused any problems for me, I have had them snipped and in the humi as long as 2 years. (I had some torps that didn't fit into the box I wanted to store them in until I cut the caps.)

I am with RPB67, your humidity might be too high, and when a cigar is too wet to stay light mold will be coming along soon if you don't get it down.

Humidity problem, most likely. I often cut or punch a cigar, then change my mind and smoke a different one, putting the first one back in the humi til I find it (sometimes months later). Just as long as it has not been torched, you will be ok.

Re: Quick Question

I also will chime in that I have had them cut and stored for months and never had any problems. Yours might just be a little high on the humidity.

Re: Quick Question

I thought some people put them back in with the head cut because it loosened up the draw or something. Any truth to that?
