Calibration way off?
I have both a digital and an analogue hygrometers. I did the salt test and calibrated the digital one to 75% it was off by about 4%. The analogue one looks to be off almost 10%! Is this normal? Thanks for helping a new Gorilla!
Cheers, spin

Re: Calibration way off?
I am pretty new to cigars too so take this with a grain of salt. I have had analog hygrometers as much as 20% offwhen first purchased. I don't trust a hygrometer that is that far off. I did adjust it and put it in the coolador with about 6 other crappy analog hygro's that have been calibrated and adjusted. They are reading acuratley for now but I only trust my digital which is calibrated every two months. I would adjust it and compare it to your digital regularly.

Re: Calibration way off?
Analog hygro's are mainly for decoration these days. They work very poorly, and yes... most come waaay off. I've found they're even sensitive to movement. If I move my humidor around a little I often find the needle has jumped 5 points or so. Just rely on the digital hygrometer and let the analog one sit for show.
