Question Trip to Denver! Questions about stores and cigars on the plane...

Hi Folks,

I'm headed to Denver for a conference next week. I wanted to bring some sticks with me, but I've read that US Customs might seize them if they don't explicitly say non-Cuban somewhere on the cigar.

So my next best option would be to buy at a B&M. Anyone know where I can go in Denver? I'll be staying at the Crowne Plaza (Near Colfax and Broadway). Thanks CS!

I have never had a problem traveling with unbanded cigars.

You guys are giving the noobie a hard time.

By non-Cuban, the band would say the country of origin on the band somewhere. However, if removing the band is sufficient to get me though customs, that is what I'll do!

maybe i'm missing something - but what right would US customs have to confiscate cuban cigars from a canadian citizen (presuming that's what the OP is)?

Back to your question on B&M locations. Jerri's is about 3-4 blocks away
500 16th St # 128, Denver, CO - (303) 825-3522‎. That's about the closest to your intersection.

Also if you're looking for a good place to have a smoke, the Celtic Tavern is a nice cigar friendly bar.

It doesn't matter where you're a citizen of; it's illegal to import Cuban products into the United States.

But to answer the OP, just take the bands off and you'll be fine. If it so happens that you aren't fine and you're left needing something to smoke, someone already mentioned Jerri's, and there's also a cigar shop in the Brown Palace Hotel on 17th and Tremont, which is right downtown and not far from where you're at either.

Jerry's used to be good way back when, I've not been there in years.

I know it may be a bit further but Cigars on 6th is a fabulous choice. What's your schedule next week? PM me with details. We like to take care of visitors if we can.

Like Opusfxd said PM him and the Colorado Front Range Herfers will try to set something up for ya... off the top of my head I can meet ya anytime next week except Monday. So PM Dave (Opusfxd) and we can get something rolling for ya...

There are lots of great stores in Denver as well... my favorites tend to be a bit north of where you are at... but there are some decent ones down south too.

No kidding - you're up in Thronton. I'm in Westminster, so I'm unfamiliar with most places down south too. Do you go to Original Cigar on 88th and Sheridan? That's my favorite place.

I travel all the time and have never had problems with banded or unbanded cigars. They are more concerned with your butane lighters and Colgate toothpaste that has over 3 ounces of paste in the tube,,,sheesh.

I live in Westminster and stop at the Original now and then but I have found that the Havana Manor has a great selection of Tatuaje's and you can use the lounge for free
