How does nicotine affect you?

While smoking a Gispert Robusto the other night, I started to feel really lightheaded and borderline drunk...it felt really good. That is the first time nicotine has had that much of an affect on me. I was wondering how it affect some other brothers and sisters, and what sticks have the strongest affects.

Don't worry about it!

It's one of the four basic food groups: Fruits... Vegatables... Meat... Cigars.

Re: How does nicotine affect you?

Was pretty new to cigars, had only smoked a few cheepies when my dad brought me back a few Cubans from China. The H. Upmann put a hurting on me. After I was done smoking it and tried to get up I just about fell on my ass and then I had to go lay down on my bed for awhile to get the room to stop spinning.

Yup -- cigars can definitely give you a buzz. I forget which cigar I was smoking outside in my chair, but when I stood up, I was like "Whoa." Kind of like when you are drunk and don't know it until you stand up.

Has anyone ever puked? My buddy (who will be signing up with CS soon) smoked two Punch cigars and puked. He was sick to begin with before smoking. Can cigars cause one to puke? Seems kind of strange that it would since you shouldn't be inhaling too much smoke.

There have been a few posts on that subject!!!

I have never puked, but have got that lightheaded feeling a few times. I have also felt queasy a couple of times. It is best to only smoke them with something in your stomach if possible. When I got sick to the stomach, it was on an empty stomach with a big full bodied cigar.

Cigars aka tobacco are kind of like hot peppers. The more you eat, the more you can handle after a period of time. I've chewed skoal long cut for a long time so I've never had a problem smoking a stronger cigar even though I can feel the nicotine from it. Cigars are just like chew. The tobacco is very alkaline so it is easily transferred through the small capilaries in your mouth. Cigarettes are less alkaline so the nicotine is more easily absorbed through smoke the the lungs via the addition of ammonia added to the cigarettes.

I grow habanero peppers in my garden, the hottest variety on earth, 50x hotter than jalapenos.

If there really is a correlation between peppers and cigars, expect the recent gains in Los Angeles' smog levels to be reversed.

Re: How does nicotine affect you?

I've chewed Skoal Long Cut for quite a while as well...ten years or so. Perhaps that's why I began smoking full-bodied cigars. I've never had a problem doing so. I will say though that on occasion, having a chew immediately after finishing a cigar has left me in a bad way more than once. I've never puked, but I've had to call an early end to more than one evening and go pass out.

Very true. The more you smoke the less it affects you. If you are looking for that drunk feeling try the JDN Antano Machito, TRUST ME! There was a period where I stopped smoking for a few weeks and the first cigar I had after was the Machito. It gave me that classic cold sweat, heart racing, stoned feeling I love so much. Unfortunately I am back to being "immune" and cant get that buzz anymore...

Yea, me too! This last season I grew 125 different varieties of hot peppers in addition to 32 diffent varieties of tomatoes. I'm limiting myself to 25 this upcoming season though. I love canning salsa. Regarding the smog levels, I'm just saying that people get used to the capsicum in hot peppers like people get used to nicotine or any other drug like alcohol....etc.

Man...you are speaking my language. Hot food is one of my loves. Habaneros are wonderful. Of course one of my baby girls got an accidental taste of one the other day. Wow was she not so happy...lol.
