Sure. I believe the two babes are cousins but for some reason I believe DPG is not related to them.

Re: What NC is most like an ISOM stick?
When I read this, I was reminded of the brainfart I had on-or-around-about my third or fourth Cuban cigar...
"Oh! THAT is what all these NC cigars are trying to taste like!" But to answer your question, despite my rookie-ish pallet, I'd say Cabiguan.

I'd say tatuaje if I had to choose. I've been fooled by one before.

Re: What NC is most like an ISOM stick?
A while back I had a Diplomaticos #4 (Cuban Petit Corona) and then had a Cusano C10 Crown Corona a few days later. I thought that the Cusano C10 was very similar to the Diplomaticos.
I could tell a difference if I smoked them both unbanded in a blind test but the Cusano was a very enjoyable cigar. |

Re: What NC is most like an ISOM stick?
Many NC smokes display Cuban-like flavors, but I have not had one that I could substitute on a regular basis for anything Cuban in my humidor. I have done many blind tastings and was fooled once by a Montecristo Platinum, so my palate is not perfect. Whether it be the binder, filler or wrapper, there is something unique about most Cuban Cigars.

Re: What NC is most like an ISOM stick?
Whats an ISOM? LoL..Tatuaje would be my choice but there isnt anything like a real cuban cigar..NCs are NCs and Cubans are Cubans. Often imitated but never duplicated..

In my opinion the NC that best matches the flavor profile of a Cuban is the Padilla Series 68 Lancero.

Re: What NC is most like an ISOM stick?
In my limited experience with Monte' ISOMS, the Tatuaje Cabinet Noella really struck me as similar. They were not the same flavors or anything that close, BUT the smoke def. reminded me of the few I have had, and for me, thats worth it enough not to deal with legal issues. Besides, to me, tobacco is tobacco, and Nicaraguan tobacco is simply DIFFERENT than Cuban tobacco. Each is capable of producing the same level of quality.

Re: What NC is most like an ISOM stick?
Similar to StLS's answer, the non Cuban that reminded me most of a Cuban was a Partagas 160 Sig. Series Robusto Minor. It had a citrus flavor that was kind of "twangy". Friggin expensive though.

Re: What NC is most like an ISOM stick?
There haven't been any non-Cuban cigars I've found that have stricken me as "like a Cuban." I've had spectacular non-Cubans and I've had not-so-spectacular Cubans. It's a different flavor, not a different quality. I like the flavors that both markets have to offer personally.
