La Riqueza is pretty tasty, as far as on a comparison level...but I try to think of ISOMs as their own entity and have a completely different taste.

Sort of like asking what apple best bakes an apple pie like a McIntosh.
There are many apples.
They are all good.
They all vary in taste.
Some may come close.
However, only one McIntosh.

Pepin is probably the one coming closest to a Cuban cigar today.
He rolls and blends them in that tradition.
However, they are not Cuban tobacco.
He can replicate the process but he doesn't have the McIntosh.

In my opinion, the Partagas Cifuentes Seasonal Blends are most like the cc's that I enjoy.

That said, you are about to get a million different answers.
There isn't a single cigar that tastes cuban. Hell, is there a cuban taste?
I think cc's are just a mix of complex characteristics, not neccessarily a taste.
Hell, some cc's are even downright nasty. Creamosa like.

If you were to ask which NC most resembles a Monte #2 you would get better answers. This question will draw a vast number of opinions, including mine.

I will watch this one to see the answers though. You can never get enough opinion input!

I've not really smoked enough CC to know, but I'm told that the Tatuaje's come close (I think someone had already mentioned Don Pepin). Again, I don't have a good basis for comparison, but I had a Tatuaje "brown" the other night and really liked it.

Re: What NC is most like an ISOM stick?

I would say a Illusione CG:4 or a Tatuaje Brown Label

I understand what you are saying. I also know this was a very open-ended question and would generate lots of opinions.

Tat Brown Label was the first thing to pop into my mind.

Re: What NC is most like an ISOM stick?

I think part of it is what do you think "like" should involve? In overall enjoyment and smoking experience I think there are many NCs that rise to the occasion. If I honestly felt as though all NCs were crap in comparison I wouldn't bother smoking cigars at all, instead I would sit back and hope that eventually the embargo would be lifted.

However if taste is the main factor... I have never smoked a NC that compared with a CC.

They are nc's.

Cabaiguans are a good second to cuban cigars, imo. But it really is like comparing apples to oranges.

Re: What NC is most like an ISOM stick?

I disagree about Pepins. Maybe one tastes like some CC to somebody. I have found that many different NCs reminded me of one or another CC, but I don't remember the specifics. I have even found a bundle cigar I thought would fool a smoker in a blind taste with a cuban cigar if the cap were cut and it was dark.
This is such a subjective question that there is no answer except to try them all out and decide for yourself.

Re: What NC is most like an ISOM stick?

You could also look at the blind tasting threads here and elsewhere. Someone picks a non-cuban as cuban, might be something there.
