Re: Ever Smoke With A Celebrity?

Nice Thread.

Have met a few Celebrities, but have never smoke cigars with any. Back in 1987-88 Went to a Motley Crue and Guns and Roses show. This was when GnR was first getting popular, they were opening for Crue. Watched the show at the time GnR was better than the Crue imo. After the concert was over My Girlfriend at the time, my cousin, another friend, who was a drummer, and myself decided to try to get back stage. After going around back of the arena and slipping thru,we were actually trying to get back to see Crue, we came acroos Duff, and Izzy from GnR. We talk for a few minutes and security finally noticed us, and asked for our backstage passes. Seeing as that we had none, he asked us to leave(he was Crue security not GnR). That's when Izzy spoke up and said, "They are cool, we are headed to the bus wanna come along?" Of course we said yes. Got to the Bus walked on and there sat Slash smoking a doobie and drinking Jack I believe. He said hello and made a little small talk then asked if we wanted a drink or smoke. So I guess this is my smoking with a celebrity story. We stayed around for about another 30 minutes that's when the girls/groupies started coming on the bus. My girlfriend wasn't too thrilled at this ,but let me tell you that the stripshow was very interesting. Stayed around for another 15 minutes of so before Slash made his way to the back of the bus, with a couple of nude groupies.
He said," see you guys and thanks for the support."
We then told Slash, Izzy, and Duff thanks for being down to earth and inviting us on the bus. Never Saw Axle, probably wasn't a loss. So,there is my smoking with a celebrity story. Ahhhh. the memories of youth.

Re: Ever Smoke With A Celebrity?

I've never smoked a cigar with a celebrity but I did take a puff off of...err...a magic cigarette with the horn section of The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, and, on another occasion, with the guitarist from Living Colour, and on another occasion, the bass player from The Violent Femmes, and on another occasion, the singer from The U.K. Subs, and on another occasion...

Man, the early 90's were good to me

I've herfed with Rocky Patel...he wandered into TW after hours one day as he's close friends with Kris, and Eric Espinoza from United Tobacco...he gifted all of us with his new '92 Vinatge 60RG stick...now if I could only figure out how to go to work for him, as I'd love to get into the cigar business...

Yep, but <sigh> no experience in the cigar industry, although I'm working on fixing that...I am just so burnt out on the computer industry after 25 years...

Re: Ever Smoke With A Celebrity?

Only two, Jack Nicholson and Da Coach.

Nicholson while I was in Cali and found this kickass hole-in-the-wall restaurant with the absolute best Cuban Pork Sandwich. I'm lucky cause Nicholson doesn't smoke much in public apparently. He also can speak very eloquently about just about anything.

Ditka while I was at his steakhouse. Mooched one of his sticks and I kissed his ass for about 2 hours. And when I say his sticks I mean one of the Ditka brand stogies. He's very hilarious to talk to. And seeing how he eats and drinks I wouldn't be surprised if he has another heart attack.

Re: Ever Smoke With A Celebrity?

I'm in the movie biz so I've smoke with a few, forgotten most but I'll try to squeeze them out now.

I've actually had a smoke with Arnold at his restaurant in Santa Monica, Schatzi's on Main. I was invited, private event. Apparently the week before Mel Gibson was there, at the private party, this was god 10+ years ago.

I've smoked while playing poker, and winning, with Ed Bagley Jr. (and his stupid electric truck.

Quite a few times with Slash's father, from Runny Noses (<-Pun really Guns N' Roses, for those who don't know).

I've smoked with David Arquette, he smoked something else that wasn't a cigar.

I've been on set with Courtney Cox and lite her cigarette more times than I can count, but never smoked with, smoked near, but I can't say it was a mutual thing.

Smoked with Cathy Moriarty, again she was smoking cigarettes, she kind of scared me.

Smoked near Amanda Peet on set before she was famous, also Michael Vartan.

Well I could go on but I won't, not really that interested, anyone in the industry will tell you.

My main thoroughfare was Overstreets on Little Santa Monica Blvd, in Beverly Hills. I was there almost every night before we got the bar smoking ban, then after the restaurant smoking ban they could still in there so we got all these wannabes, it gummed up the place, then after the bar smoking band everything went to shit. Oversteets was owed by Overstreet a financial guy and George Hamilton, who incidentally has his own cigar line for years. Then Hamilton sold his share and the managers told me Overstreet brought in Chuck Norris and Jim Belushi, but let them go after not fulfilling their contractual obligations. They were supposed to show up now and again to attract customers.

Re: Ever Smoke With A Celebrity?

Never smoked with a celebrity but met a couple. I met Chuck Norris a few years back, can't say he was too pleased to be there so it wasn't a great pleasure at the time. Also, spent a few days with Bas Rutten while over in Japan. Got a few pics with him but he's a great down to earth guy who is all about having fun and being normal. I do have to say that he's pretty bad ass in the ring too. I'll try and post a pic of him later.
