Do what I did, buy both of them and each one works great. Get your beads and you are in business!!

Re: need help fast! im at walmartl

I'm sure you've already decided on one or the other and already home figuring out how you're going to fill it up, but for other's looking for advice...

My advice on a cooler is always get a widest one front to back you can find. That way if you want to put trays for singles in it, you can stack the trays sideways on one end and still have a lot of room for boxes. The cedar trays are 12.5 inches wide and most coolers aren't that wide front to back. The marine coolers are usually wider and have the latches to help seal them.

Do you use these? They are not even close to air tight so I dont see how they could maintain a constant Rh??? Please explain.

I bought a 75, but I had a good excuse. I'm only planning for it to be temporary, until I get my fridgidor set up, so next summer the cooler will be returned to actual cooler duties, and it was the perfect size for that. If I was planning for it to be a permanent coolidor, I would have gotten the 120, minimum.

I have 4 large slideunders & 2 wine coolerdors.

I'm lazy & forgetful...I can't remember, & don't really want to screw with opening all my coolerdor lids for an hour or so each week, so I've used storage containers & slideunders from day one of my plastidor use. They are extremely low maintainence (sp?) & my cigars stay at a good smoking humidification.

I've always found that storage containers have a sufficient seal for cigar storage. They allow a bit of air exchange, which keeps mold away (I've never had a serious mold outbreak in any humidor). I used to attribute anti-mold properties to pg, & perhaps it's true, but I stopped using pg a few years ago.

I tend my cigars by feel. If they start to become a little harder to draw on, or start to feel spongy, I remove media for a time (sometimes I'll dry box for a day or two). If they start to get hard & feel dry to me, then I simply add some distilled H20 to my media (that's homemade too BTW). Sometimes, I'll completely remove the media from my wine coolerdors for a while because, with the airtight seal, the cigars tend to create their own perfectly humidified environment.

I don't buy cigars with the intent of storing them in perfect aging conditions for the next decade or two. I buy them to smoke. If they don't make me that happy, then chances are they might get a few years of age on them. Some of them turn into spectacular cigars with age, but of course you can't polish a turd. Once a dog rocket, always a dog rocket. I've recently lit up cigars from the slideunders that have 5-7 years on them & they smoked just fine.

Honestly, if you can fall off of a bicycle, you can take care of a few hundred cigars.
