I was quite excited when I ran across the modified use of a VinoTemp for a humidor. My apartment can get rather warm so i was afraid a normal Humi/Cooler wouldn't hold too well. I searched one down at Target (seems to be the hot spot for these) but it wasn't on clearance any longer, it was priced at $199.99! I talked to a manager about the pricing. He said they get disco'd, we clear em out then they come back... I told him that people have been getting for around $150 what can he do to move this thing. After a bit of consideration he told me the best he could do is $20 off the top. I looked at it and said the box was pretty thrashed and I heard these get pretty roughed up in shipping I'd like to open it first. He reluctantly agreed. We got it out of the box and sure enough, shipping damage. The top corner of the door was dinged and the rear cooling housing was smashed in a bit on a corner. I was like sweet! How much now? I can do $130 he told me... I boxed it back up and took her home. I don't have a great location for it since it's under my computer desk but I think it will work. I got a strict "It's not going in the living room" from the Girlfriend, so this is was the next option.
The door ding doesn't bug me but I think I may use some "creative force" with some needle nose pliers and maybe a hammer to flatten it out a bit. The door mounting was tweaked too. After taking the bottom bracket off and "adjusting" the sheet metal with a hammer it straightened right up. It seems to get down to temp so for the price I can't complain too much. I suppose I could have tried to pick it up on clearance for even more savings, but I kind of needed one... last week ![]() Now for some drawers or something and get this baby organized! Have a great day... I am! Chris |

![]() Edit: Well I guess I should be more specific... I've heard some plug the drain hole, and of course you need some form of humidifier. The box does have a distinct odor that needs to be dealt with. Like an injection molding machine wanked a few off in there... Well crap I suppose I should've thrown this up in the Accs. forum. I'm ready for my beating! I like it ruff anyways Last edited by Benwoo; 10-09-2008 at 03:28 PM.. Reason: Cuz |
