Talking Starting my Coolador

Went to a local cigar shop and picked up this hygrometer:

And I got this Coleman cooler from wal mart. It has a GREAT seal and the lid flips over to reveal cup holders and it also seals pretty well when flipped over.

I was going to buy some closet/drawer cedar balls, but ir13 told me to just get some spanish cedar because of the absorption properties of each, and the spanish is what is best. So, I'll probably just use the cigar boxes my new sticks come in. The picture of the hygro is fresh out of the box, so the readings are way off. I still dont have my beads in the cooler yet, but I will tomorrow and it will hopefully be pretty steady soon. More pics as this progresses!

Re: Starting my Coolador

Well done!
You are definitely on the right road...
Don't bother with cedar balls and such.
I don't believe you need any cedar in the coolador..
The boxes they come in, the bags they come in
pick up a cedar tray if you must for the loose sticks..

You go!!!!
Tom

Re: Starting my Coolador

I know a lot of people say you don't need any cedar lining, and it's true you probably don't NEED it, but I have mine lined and I think it goes a long way in maintaining the humidity. It also helps counteract any lingering plastic smell in the cooler.

Not that I would take my coolador out with me every time I smoke, but It would be nice to have a place to rest my beer besides on the floor. lol

My Bobken did rest perfectly on the arm rails of the rocking chair on the porch tonight though! First time I've got to test that.

Just finished a mac 1968 accompanied by a Blue Moon. Gonna make a mini review in a few minutes with pics.

Thanks for that link. Funny chit..never seen it before.

Do not use red cedar anything with your cigars. It is not the same.
Spanish Cedar is really not a cedar, it is a mahogany.

Re: Starting my Coolador

How big of a cooler did you get? The pictures in your OP are not working.

Re: Starting my Coolador

Just a little update as to the status of my cooler...
The isla del sols and CAO flavours are in a separate cooler.
