Smokes for the hunting trip?

Any recommendations for a handful of stogies to take out into the woods with me? I'm fairly new to cigars but tend to like medium/medium-full smokes. I want a cigar that will go well with a few beers and a campfire. I will have plenty of time to devote to smoking.

So... that covers just about everything. This past weekend on a hunting trip I smoked a Gurkha Legend and a RP Vintage 1992. I really enjoyed the RP, not so much the Gurkha (although I will blame that one on the humidor, I've had some RH fluctuations recently).

Some cigars that I'd like to try: Taboo SF (local B&M doesn't carry Taboo and I don't want to commit to a box w/o trying them first), Sancho Panza Double Maduro, AF Hemingway...

It is a shame that deer hunting doesn't lend itself to smoking, all that time sent sitting up in my stand would be perfect stogie time. Oh well... maybe when Fuente comes out with a scent-free cigar.

Re: Smokes for the hunting trip?

To be completely honest with you I wouldn't recommend taking any high and smokes out into the field.

If your hunting camp is like mine it's usually pretty windy and there have been a few victory beers before you settle in for a cigar

You mentioned the RP Vintage specifically. I would look at some of the RP seconds from Cigarbid.com to take into the field.

Me personally, I take some of the Tatuaje white label (mixed filler) and RP seconds with me. The quality of these is high with a low cost. If they burn crazy from high winds or I've had too many victory beers I don't feel bad about tossing it.

GR, I say buy yourself some singles that you really enjoy and take em' with you. As far as Taboo is concerned, 1) Check out our retail forum for a Taboo Coupon that may be still in effect for a discount; and 2) Taboo sells singles too, in addition to some other well know cigars. Shoot for a 5er of the SFO robustos and HSG robustos each to take along for your hunt.

Have a great deer hunt GR

taking smokes out into the field sounds counter productive to me. Wouldn't you want deer piss instead?

Re: Smokes for the hunting trip?

I would definately take a bundle of "cheap" smokes. Check out the Los Blancos Primos. I really like the maduro.
