Size DOES matter but not how i thought

Every since I started smoking cigars I always seemed to buy robusto size or larger, I dont know why really other then it just seemed right but something I noticed lately.
For some reason Corona size tastes better to me in a few of my favorite cigars, they taste more like i remember when i first smoked them.

Not sure but it just seems like 42 to 46 ring gauge now all the sudden tastes much better to me, especially better then 52 or even bigger does.

Ya think that maybe there is a size like Corona that is the "right" size for a cigar? Like maybe the wrapper to filler ratio is right at that size?

They just seems like there is more taste and its more complex?

WEird but something i have noticed lately because I was forced to buy that smaller size in a few things I really like because they were out of the 50 or higher ring gauge.

What you other gorillas think on that?

Re: Size DOES matter but not how i thought

When I first started I was smoking mostly robustos or churchills or other larger sizes. I now find myself smoking mostly small RG stuff. I still enjoy the larger ones on occasion but find that I get more enjoyment from the smaller ones.

Not really for me. I suppose it's all varies on a person to person basis but I've always found that my favorite guages are between 48 and 52. All this goes out the window when you start talking about torpedoes since I usually cut them to a much smaller guage. I just enjoy the draw of a larger guage. I get over whelmed by the concentration of a smaller guage. That being said, anything over 54 is just too big for me.........but I'll smoke 'em anyways.....

I started with Toros and Churchills, then came Robustos, and now I'm smoking coronas, Lonsdales, and PC's almost exclusively. With a smaller cigar, the flavor of the wrapper just seems to come out more, and I really like that.

The corona is my favorite size I think that it has the perfect mix of filler and wrapper. I think what shabalaba was getting at is that he doesn't take much off the end when he cuts his torpedo.

Ditto. I like larger gauges in really full bodied cigars. For medium or medium-full bodied cigars, I prefer a corona or lonsdale size.

If you are looking for maximum flavor, I would suggest a lancero. Try an Oliva V lancero or a Tatuaje Havana VI Especiales. Or even a Illusione Holy Lance. Your life may change.

Re: Size DOES matter but not how i thought

Corona is my fav size cigar, and I'm loving all the new Lanceros out there. With the smaller ring gauge there is less filler and more wrapper so you are getting more of the taste from the wrapper.
