Spirit of CS...

Everyday, I see a new thread concerning the sale, the death of CS, Jon is the devil, cancel my acount etc.

Seems alot of gorillas are forgetting the very essence of what Club Stogie is about.

Club Stogie is about sharing the love of cigars with friends.

How many of us have traveled hundreds of miles to sit and have a smoke with a person that has come to be like a brother? How many people have sent thoughtful packages to people they've never met? How many people on here feel they now have an extended family?

Selling of information, merging of forums, changing of names.. none of that affects True Gorillas.

Look at the positives..new BOTLs, new knowledge, new stories, most important new people to travel to have cigars with. Maybe its me, I'll drive 400 miles to smoke a cremosa with a BOTL.

Paul started something awesome, its grown into something almost beyond describing.

Lets' look at the positive side of things, give Jon a solid chance, its the brotherly thing to do.

I am with you. There are too many people who are crying about the demise of Club Stogie and lamenting all of the changes in the past week and I just haven't seen any big difference.

CS to me is the people. The people are CS.
other than that it is just an internet forum. But that aside

THE PEOPLE

The people make it what it is.
I didn't even know Paul, I appreciate him giving me the opportunity to meet the wonderful people I have met via his internet site.

Chris, I'm with ya my Brother

Yeah, this rat ain't ready to jump this ship either. I've said a few negative things in posts about the new name and such, but I'm sticking around to see what the furture holds for this home to all these wonderful gorillas!

I'm with you Chris. It's about the brotherhood. I'd drive 400 miles to smoke a cremosa with you any day, though if that was all you had I'd probably provide the cigars...

In short -- Clubstogie (along with a few other cigar forums) have been sold to a man named Jon Caputo. He intends to roll them all into a single cigar oriented "super-forum" called "Puff.com".
This change (and especially the name) is causing quite a bit of consternation amongst the members.

There are several more detailed threads on the changes.

Re: Spirit of CS...

Well said Chris.
I recently joined CS after months of lurking. I began to really enjoy the community and friendly helpful atmosphere. I was putting off joining the club, and then the news hit about puff.com. At that point I thought "what's the point of joining now?" But after thinking about it for a while, I realized that, as some of the members are jumping ship, it's important that the remaining members can see that many are sticking around and better yet, new members want to join, despite the upcoming changes. It's a small gesture, granted, but by joining now, with the full knowlege of the upheavels coming, it's like my vote of confidence that the community spirit that this club is blessed with, will prevail. Re: Spirit of CS...

Some things in life are bad,
They can really make you mad,
Other things just make you swear and curse,
When you're chewing life's gristle,
Don't grumble,
Give a whistle
And this'll help things turn out for the best.
And...

Always look on the bright side of life.
[whistle]
Always look on the light side of life.
[whistle]

If life seems jolly rotten,
There's something you've forgotten,
And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing.
When you're feeling in the dumps,
Don't be silly chumps.
Just purse your lips and whistle.
That's the thing.
And...

Always look on the bright side of life.
[whistle]
Always look on the right side of life,
[whistle]

For life is quite absurd
And death's the final word.
You must always face the curtain with a bow.
Forget about your sin.
Give the audience a grin.
Enjoy it. It's your last chance, anyhow.
So,...

Always look on the bright side of death,
[whistle]
Just before you draw your terminal breath.
[whistle]

Life's a piece of shit,
When you look at it.
Life's a laugh and death's a joke it's true.
You'll see it's all a show.
Keep 'em laughing as you go.
Just remember that the last laugh is on you.
And...

Always look on the bright side of life.
Always look on the right side of life.
[whistle]

Re: Spirit of CS...

Other than a barrage of people complaining, I haven't noticed any major change yet.

This Puff.com thing sounds confusing. Hopefully this will be a seamless transition, I'm not up for putting a lot of work into forums.

Seems to be a lot of this going on. TheHighRoad.org has it's share of problems right now.

I think the Internet is dying!

More than I can understand...
