Anejo 48

Lit one up about an hour ago and damn this is a delicious cigar! I was expecting an Opus-esque powerhouse but was surprised by a relatively gentle giant. The flavors are rich and complex, but the strength hasn't been near what I expected. I'm only about halfway through but I know I'll keep my eyes open for more of these.

Re: Anejo 48

Now you are in trouble

Now you can't smoke a $5.00 cigar any more. They just don't taste like that good old Anejo

Great choice, the Anejo are the best cigars AF offers in my opinion. However i would recommend you remove the cedar from the ones you have left, if you have any left. For some reason Anejos have a serious mold problem under the cedar. I removed them all from my sticks and just put them back in cello and back in the boxes.

Ditto what Andrew said: there will Anejos all over the place to buy from at this time of the year. If you dare there are some gorillas in the want to sell forum who might have a few with your name on it.

This mold issue was a one time thing in 07 when the ship carrying the Anejo shipment was stuck at sea and the cigars sat in a hot humid enviornment for a long time. the mold issue only effected some of these boxes. I have many boxes of Anejos from different years and have never found mold under the cedar or anywhere else. Please don't remove the cedar or cello, there is no need at all. The cedar imparts a nice flavor/aroma component to the cigars.

Re: Anejo 48

i decided to leave work early and light up the anejo #49 i picked up last year. im only in the first third, but so far i feel a little let down. its a good smoke and im enjoying the flavors but i guess i was just expecting it to blow me away. oh well theres plenty of cigar left so i guess i'll just keep plugging away and see where it takes me.

Well thats great if you havent seen the problem, but I have Anejos going back to 2003 and almost every box had at least one issue of the mold (likewise to those I have spoken with). That excuse to me sounds like the PR Pinar claim "we found millions of pounds of pre-embargo tobacco sitting in a warehouse. Before claiming humidity problems in my humidor/cooler, well thats not the case, no cc or nc has ever had the mold problem (or mold or beatles for that matter) that I have seen with these. In my opinion, I would rather be safe then sorry. But thats just me, to each there own. I think the Anejo flavor stands on it own, even without the cedar. There are no cedar sleeves on the Sharks and many consider those some of the best NC's. I would however keep the cello on them just for added protection.

Re: Anejo 48

2007 was the worst year, but every year it seems we hear about mold issues with the Anejos. Something about the sweeter, more moist wrapper seems to draw mold. No worries for me, I can get them here but preffer DCM.

I have a few boxes of Anejos. It's killing me to try and let these rest for a few years. 1 year anniversary this month!

Just my opinion, but you really don't need to let these rest very long.
