![]() Dead - My dad I would love to have just one more cigar with him. Alive - Silverfox hands down. The man has allowed me to enjoy more wonderful cigars in a few months than I would have in a lifetime. I would like to enjoy one of those cigars with him in person just shootin' the shit and having a scotch. |

Re: If you could HERF with ANYONE who is dead..
Herfin' with the dead .. sounds like fun.
I would have to pick Louis Armstrong. Why? Well, I think he was the finest American musician of the 20th century. Incredible horn player, talented singer, composer and arranger. He lived through the early part of the century with segregation, and poverty. He was the grandson of slaves, born out of wedlock, grew up in a poor New Orleans neighborhood, dropped out of school at 11 and yet then climbed to the pinnacle of American entertainment. He lived through the roaring 20s, great depression. I'd love to sit down and smoke a cigar with him and listen to him talk. |

My Dad. He died when I was 14, so I never got to have an adult relationship with him.
I don't remember him ever smoking a cigar, but he smoked cigarettes, so I'm sure he'd be willing to give one a try.

The group from the Manhattan Project would be interesting.
Chris Farley would be excellent on the lighter side. |

Re: If you could HERF with ANYONE who is dead..
I hear lots of people mentioning their grandfather or father. My grandfather passed away a couple of years ago and he loved cigars. I attribute my smoking cigars directly to him - I always loved the smell of them and he always seemed relaxed when puffing on one. I am positive my best conversations with him occurred when he was smoking a cigar.

Re: If you could HERF with ANYONE who is dead..
For me it would be my great grandfather, he passed when I was 8 at the great age of 98. I used to love being in VT with him, lighting his pipe. I can remember cutting firewood with him (yes, he cut his own till year before passing) when he was in his late 90's.

Re: If you could HERF with ANYONE who is dead..
If we are talking historical figures and not relatives (which I think would be most of our first choices, to spend time with someone who was near and dear to us), I would have a herf with Ulysses S. Grant and Robert E. Lee. Honest Abe could join us if he wanted.

Not that she knew that she was working on that project at the time but my Grandmother (Mrs. AwsmithJR) have smoked a cigar together. She has told me some pretty cool things about when she was working in Oakridge in the 40s. Granted she has said many times they knew they were working on something important but most didn't know till years later what they had developed.

Re: If you could HERF with ANYONE who is dead..
I would have to say both of my grandpa's.
My paternal grandpa passed away when I was very young. I wish I could have met him. And or course my maternal grandpa cause he was a cool dude. |
