I don't think I would ever have the nads to smoke a fresh one in the morning. For me opus has its own twang, like some say CC's do. I just love that Opus twang, but my first encounter with Opus was a freshie and I didn't try another for a year. It was an aged one I received and I was hooked ever since. At 9 bucks each I would pick up as many as I could. I will take them off your hands for what you do like.

Depending on size it varys. There are a few places that I know that will sell them from $10 to $14 for the bigger sizes. There is another online site that will see Opus for $10 - $12 but you can only buy 2 and your have to order at least 8 other cigars of any type. So if you know you are going to buy cigars, then order up the OPUS for a great price.

$20.00 for a cigar. That's like paying $500K for a shack in the L.A East side. Yeah sure, it is all in the eyes of the beholder. Except that when the beholder is blind as a bat...

Don't smoke it in the morning. Have a big nice lunch with lots of meat.

If you haven't buy one yet, here are some of the sizes you should try as first timer.

Small Opus
Petite Lancero
Perf #5
XxX

Large Opus
Double Corona
Perf #2

The following Opus X has been some what light in strength in the recent years: Fuente Fuente, Robusto, Perf #4, Super Belicosos, Reserve D Chateau.

However if you get a small Opus that is too strong for you, don't let it fool you, some of the bigger sizes are actually lighter, but by smoking the lighter one, you're not really getting the true Opus experience.

Just got my order in today

Why so negative? Obama is going to give all of us Opus X allowance on January 20th.

Actually, don't kid your self, stuff like Opus X will always have buyers who are willing to pay premium over MSRP in major metropolitan cities. There is a reason why AF limit the production to some thing like 700k sticks a year. Between my self and few friends, we probably consume more than 800 sticks a year, even with shitty economy. I find them the cheapest from Texas, Montana, and S. Dakota shops.

Re: Fuente Fuente OpusX - What is the hype?

I smoke and have a good amount of Opus. Yes they are, to me, as good as they say. I smoke three to five sticks a day. It takes me an hour to smoke a xXx Power Ranger4 5/8 x 49, but two hours to smoke a DC (Double Corona)
7 5/8 x 49. Some people take longer. Buy a few and if you don't like the first couple that you smoke, I will buy the rest from you and send you two other cigars to replace the two you smoked.

I love them and have been smoking them for seven years and have had less than a handful that were not great.

Opus X .. was too spicy for me. I'll try it again sometime..but as of right now, I'm more into creamy and smooth smokes.

They really haven't been that spicy. I'm puffing on a Perf #2 right now and it had some spiciness in the beginning but mellow out big time.

I still remember back in 2001 when I got my first full box of Petite Lancero, they were like hot pepper sticks.

As for Opus X, any one who think they are simply "another good cigar" does not understand what old school cigars about (no offense). There is nothing out there like it today.

There are some cigars in my opinion, cannot be duplicate by any other manufactures: Opus X, Anejo, VSG/ESG, Aurora 100 Anos, and Padron 1964/26.

Those are truly the bench mark cigars in which they have created some thing that is just as good as the Cubans, but in a very different way.

It's a very good smoke. But, I say save some dough and get a Chateau Fuente sungrown instead.

I say that, but I've got three resting in one of the humis right now.

Don't forge Cuban Belicosos. That's probably the best $6 cigar from Fuente's standard line.
