Fuente Fuente OpusX - What is the hype?

I am just curious if this cigar is really as good as people say it is. I have the opportunity to try one tomorrow morning but I want to hear some thoughts on this little cigar.

What is the smoke time (for a slow smoker), taste, etc.

I see these cigars going for $30 - 100 but I have a chance to get one for wayyyy cheaper. I am going to try it out but I want to know what to expect before I smoke it

the cigars can be a little strong make sure u got some food and a good drink. i for one dont like the opus and thing that has to be flavored to make it taist better to smoke is not for me.

Like all cigars, some like them and some don't. The only way to see if they are up to the hype is to try a few. I don't really care for them but then again, I am not a fan of Fuente in general.

hmm, I do like strong cigars and I will be eating breakfast next door to the place where I am smoking my cigar.

I love me some Opus!

But it's the same as any other cigar in the fact that:

A) There is no need to pay over MSRP +tax. If its more don't buy it. Your just encouraging gouging.

B) Only you know if it's good and worth the money.

C) Smoke time will vary on you and the size of the smoke.

D) Why would you want to know what to expect? That would take the fun out of trying something new.

E) I love me some Opus!

I just like to know what I am tasting... hard to tell what cigar notes I am experiencing at times... that's all!

I've smoked a few I got as gifts and
really enjoyed em, but I wouldn't buy em.
I would rather spend that kind of money
on cigars that I consider better.

the best ones I've had have been aged for a couple years after purchase. IMHO, they are only worth MSRP and not the crazy mark up some people put on them.

Just plain genius spoken here. I love the Opus Cigars and let them age if you can but if not, it's still a great cigar. The price? It sucks but there are places in America where you can still purchase one for sticker price.

when you say sticker price, how low are we talking? How does $9 per cigar sound?

I say you try it tomorrow and see how it suits your taste. If you like it, determine how much you're willing to put down for them and find some. They can be some really strong when fresh. Personally, I prefer mine with some age...less heat palpitations.

i am going to try pipe smoking tomorrow morning. After that, I am going to buy an OpusX and see if I like it or not... If so, I am going to buy a few and age them so I can smoke them when I complete my masters degree!

Just wait until the American economy really tanked, the Dow Jones hits like 5000 low then you know what hype means.

Hype means you were spending $20.00 for a stinky bunch of grass leaf when that money can now be used to feed your family for two days or put gas in the tank to take you to the unemployment office.

$20.00 for a cigar. That's like paying $500K for a shack in the L.A East side. Yeah sure, it is all in the eyes of the beholder. Except that when the beholder is blind as a bat...
