Bombed a friend but get this...

Recently I bombed a friend who always mentioned he likes a good cigar every once in a while. I bombed him with a 50 count glass top humidor with engraving, a Colibri Odyssey Firebird lighter, a dual blade cutter, a Heartfelt humdifier puck, and 10 cigars (8 premiums and 2 Spanish Galleon freebies from AtlanticCigar.com). Tonight he and I had a cigar "over the phone" as he's now in Florida and I'm in New Jersey. Well, the point of this post is the fact that he didn't cut the head of the cigar off. He lit the foot and that's it. I told him he needs to cut the head so he can draw. He insisted he can still smoke it fine without cutting it. Well, I told him I would post about this and send him a link to the responses as it's ridiculous trying to smoke a cigar without cutting the head first. So, can other chime in to tell him how silly it is to NOT cut the head of a cigar!? I mean... without cutting it you're not smoking it!

Re: Bombed a friend but get this...

are you sure he's not biting the cap off at some point in time? If he can draw through a closed cap and enjoy the cigar, more power to him!

I've tried that until I realized I forgot to clip the cap... No way I can personally enjoy a cigar that way.

One of two things.

#1 Or he lit the closed end and drew from the bottom. or he bit the tip off.

OK, he's not lighting it the wrong way and nope... he's NOT biting off the cap! He insists that he can smoke it without cutting the head. I told him he better not waste the premiums I sent him by doing this and he swore he'd cut them as a result. But, he needs to know how not cutting the cap equates to: faking smoking the darn thing!

maybe he was smoking a machine made with the hole already in it. Or, did you send him any perfectos? Some, like the Gurkha centurion, don't need to be clipped to draw on them.

Man, how long does the phone call last? Your long distance must be huge!!! Does he finish the cigar? Sounds weird to me.

Nope, I sent him all premium long filler hand rolled cigars. And all need to be cut. There aren't even any torpedo's where would could somehow manage sucking through a 5rg hole

Nah, I have internet based phone service through my cable company as does he. Well, actually most people have opted for this nowadays as there's no long distance cost. But I actually called him on my cell phone which offers unlimited free evening and weekend calling

Re: Bombed a friend but get this...

That would make for a very tight draw! There are several youtube videos on clipping a cigar correctly and also some pics somewhere. I remember long ago searching those out for the correct amount to cut so as to enjoy the cigar best. But who knows, maybe he has found a new way. I guess the big question is "Did he like it?"

Re: Bombed a friend but get this...

Dear Rev's friend,

You must cut the cigar before you smoke it. If you don't it is like trying to drink a bottle of powerade without removing the bottle cap.

I hope you enjoy the other cigars.

Regards,
Jimbo14.
