Re: Company party help....

Hello,

I know I am just a newbie, but I have had good luck giving out Flor de Oliva Gold in situations like this. I think they are a bit more expensive per stick than the regular Fuente Curly Head line, my B&M usually has the Toro shape for I think $2.55 or $2.75 a stick. Granted, I do not have the most educated palate yet, but these are actually a pretty good no brainer/yard work/misc. type of smoke that I always keep a few around the house.

Good luck!

Re: Company party help....

haha, yea, they really aren't bad. I mean, there isn't just a ton of anything special about them, but from my experience they are consistantly well made and are a mild, pretty good smoke that has an even burn everytime. It definitley isn't the smoke I break out for me and my dad after dinner to go with 18 year old scotch or anything, but should definitely be considered along the lines of Fuente Curly Head's, which I also think is a pretty good smoke, but I like everything I have tried from Fuente so far! This is the smoke I bring my buddies that tend to waste good cigars for poker night or golf. I personally like the shorter, Robusto shape.

Yea, for me, having two young kiddo's I don't always get afforded the hour or so I would like everyday to enjoy a good cigar. So for those times that I am pushing the swing, or pitching the baseball, but still want a smoke, I am always on the look out and for a good disposable smoke that I don't shed tears over having to throw it away !

Sorry, didn't mean to hijack the thread!

Re: Company party help....

Ok to kinda answera a lot of a question in one post....or rather questions I should have cleared up on my opening post.

1. My group of co-workers is just this way, no hesitation to ask if someone is bringing something that no one else would bring. "So, you bringing any cubans for me to try" has been the number 1 question. This may seem rude, I see it more as EXTREMELY wishful thinking. Either way, ain't happening.

2. All of my co-workers (with one exception) would be first time cigar smokers. This is why I don't want to break out a box of Anejos for these guys.

3. I don't feel it is rude of them to ask. We are just a real close group, so its just our way. Sadly when trying to talk about cigars at work, most people don't know it goes beyond Dutch Masters and Black and Milds. Hell, I see most of these people more than my own family. And yes. I do need a different job.

All soap box rants are welcome....believe me I have been there. I can be and am a cheap bastage, so I can assure you there will be no box of SS going with me tomorrow.

Thanks again for all the advice, seems the Curly heads are the way to go.

No problems, bro. I just wanted everyone to know how things are at my company, since I failed to mention them in the first post. Trust me, there are more times than not that I have the same feelings. I've just learned to roll with them at times.

I think I can get the Rolys locally, so they seen to be the best bet.

Thanks to all!!!!

Re: Company party help....

Situations like this can be good opportunity to help dispel the nmyths of cigar smoking. As other have said, dont hand out the dog crap, it onlye serves to reinforce peoples bad perception of cigars and cigar smokers. Don;t look at it as a chance to throw awy money, see it as a chance to convert or influence one or more people. With the state and local laws turining against us, we should all try to put forth an effort to sway public opinion our way. The more smokers we have, the less likely we are to lose even more of our rights concerning smoking. See an opportunity, not a problem.

Never have had the Rolys, but the Curley Heads are a good bet. As well as the Flor de Oliva's. Good basic cigars and will not break the bank.

Re: Company party help....

How about Flor De Oliva Golds? They go for what these days...$1.50 apiece? Not too bad either. I also second the Private Stocks, terrific mild smoke, but probably double the price...

For what it's worth, CuAvana is mild, agreeable with beginners, yet respected enough so that I doubt the wise guys would scoff at it.
