Re: Keeping it all straight
I jot down my thoughts, I type them out, and post them here. I did like 10 of these when I first started and it provided good reflection on my part by reminising of the flavors and texture. Also, other people got to comment about the cigar, whether they agreed or disagreed and why.

Re: Keeping it all straight
I started out with written cards with the bands... then used a program called "Cigar Register."
Nowadays, I no longer really keep track of that stuff. I just smoke what I have and enjoy it. ![]()

I don't think it is a bad thing to know how much "inventory" you have for insurance purposes. It may just not be worth it to know exactly the number and value you have in cigars especially if you have a nice stash of expensive cigars. Every now and again it would not be a bad thing to know how exactly much to have in your cigar inventory.

Same here. If something was really good or well made I'll keep the band near my humidor.

Re: Keeping it all straight
I'm blessed with a pretty good memory but I don't over tax it either. There are a number of manufacturers I haven't even hit yet. As I grow I'll add a label here and there. I started with mostly Gurkha then rocky then ashton. Padron. Perdomo. Don pepin. Etc. There are a few big guys out there I haven't even touched yet. Macanudo. Montecristo. Maybe in a year or so.
I don't go exclusive to a maker just that's what I'll try new stuff in. |

Re: Keeping it all straight
I have 4 or 5 half filled notebooks, 2 or 3 spreedsheets, and a couple of journals all crammed in one box or another. I go through cycles where I record everything, and then long spells where I record absolutly nothing. It's a hobby for me and it all depends on where I'm at in my busy life as to how much time I devote to it. I'll start another logbook down the road I'm sure, but for now I'm being lazy.
With an ever changing pallet, my choice of cigars go up and down the grading scale anywho.
