Keeping it all straight

What system or method does everyone use to keep track of cigars you have smoked. Do you keep a diary or is there anything out there that already exists that can make keeping track simpler. Don't want to end up buying that dog rocket again a few years later.

Re: Keeping it all straight

I wonder if there is something that we can create on this site that would enable one to keep track of your stogies. Purchases, reviews and such. I know we kind of have that already, but maybe more of a private diary for your own personal use. Keep it all under one banner.

Re: Keeping it all straight

There is a free program on the internet called Cigar Briefcase that is pretty nice. You download it and it has areas to store tasting notes, brands, sizes, price, etc.

Everything is in the old noggin. I remember all the bad ones I have smoked and most of the really good ones. If I don't remember it, it was just ok.

I use a low tech system, filecards. I tape the band to the card and write down whatever comes to mind as I smoke.

Whenever I do anything this way, whether it's wine, cigars, etc.. I end up remembering the label, but forgetting that I really didn't like the product, and then I end up buying it again and realizing my mistake.

Whichever ones I'm almost out of are good.

The almost full boxes not so much.

Makes good sense to me.

I've been thinking about using a legal pad to make notes about the different cigars I smoke.

Re: Keeping it all straight

I have an Excel sheet that keeps track of my sticks with room for a rating and some comments. I'm still new to "tasting" cigars so I haven't felt much need for anything more complicated yet. May soon use a notebook though.

It's funny; I probably couldn't tell ya what I ate yesterday,
but I remember whether or not I liked a certain cigar.

I second that (OLD NOGGIN) approach. I don't want to get bogged down in paperwork when I could be spending more time enjoying my cigars.

Nice review sheet!!

I usually don't keep track of reviews, but I've used Excel in the past.
