Stocking for the Season...

As I perused and picked from Cbid offerings a couple of nights ago, I found myself bidding on sticks that I enjoy most in the wintertime -- rich, dark maduros and cameroons.

But as I organized the humi's this morning, it occurred to me that I'm way low on the sticks that I enjoy most during the spring and summer months -- Lighter blends that I like to chomp on while stoking up the charcoal grill and tending whatever dead meat I happen to be burning... And smaller sticks, like petit coronas, that are perfect after lunch out on the porch.

Just wondering whether others here notice changes in their cigar preferences as the seasons change.

Could it be that I suffer from SCS (Seasonal Cigar Syndrome)???

Re: Stocking for the Season...

I stock up on the sticks I know I'll be smoking in the summer months now and let them rest in one of my cooladors until they are ready to be moved to my ready to smoke humi. I cant say my taste changes very much from season to season. My taste changes more from what particular mood I may be in at any given time. Some times I like a milder cigar and other times I go for the medium to full body stick.

My preference change not only season to season but year to year. I can't anticipate that at this point in my life and maybe I never will.

As a new smoker...Give me some advice on this. I started smoking cigars this Thanksgiving, and found I like the fuller brands (Partagas Black Label, La Gloria Cubana, El Rico Habana). Does a lighter smoke go better in summer, like a light mixed drink vs. a heavy wine?

Palm55- What are your winter smokes? What are your summer smokes?

Re: Stocking for the Season...

I order more now so I dont have to order in those hot summer months.

You dont want those bugs in your cigars !

Order now and take a few months off and save some money during the summer. Then put a big order again in around September !

Re: Stocking for the Season...

Recently Iv been having allot of strong maduro's, but recently I bought some Rocky vintage 1990 churchills courtesy of germantownrob (thanks man), and Im starting to like milder cigars more now. I dont think its the season just my palate.

CRASH,

Ive been bouncing around between several brands this winter, most of them in the medium to medium-heavy range, and nearly all of them maduros or cameroons. They seem to go well with a heavily-iced JB. I'm anticipating that my tastes will lean toward the mild side this summer, mostly naturals or Con Shade... For some reason, they seem to fit better with cold beer... This is purely subjective, of course!!

Re: Stocking for the Season...

Now that is a fantastic point. Could you please call my wife and tell that this is why I need $1000 for cigars, not because I'm crazy but because it makes sense!!!
