Cigars wet by activation solution
After refilling my humidifier with activation solution, I discovered it was cracked and leaking. Got the first shelf of my humidor damp. About 10 decent cigars got a little wet on the bottom of them. They all dried within 24 hours. I've also replaced the humidifier. My question is, will these be safe to smoke or not? Thanks in advance.

Re: Cigars wet by activation solution
They should be fine. I would give them a while before smoking just so you don't have any burn issues.

What's in the solution? Gift one to the neighbor first to see how he reacts.

Re: Cigars wet by activation solution
I would guess that anyone who uses the PG solution for humidification has been smoking it also. Remember that your cigars are absorbing the humidity coming from your device.

Re: Cigars wet by activation solution
They will probably never be the same. I had a humidipak explode in a box of cigars and I tried to rinse them off and reacclimate but the stuff got absorbed into the wrapper and they never burned nor tasted the same. Was a shame because it was a box of 1998s.

Re: Cigars wet by activation solution
Yes, they will be safe. The activation solution is just Propylene Glycol and water. PG is used as an additive in foods and as a base in pharmaceuticals, so I can't think of any danger involved. As mentioned, though, they may not taste or burn right.

Re: Cigars wet by activation solution
Honestly, I'd cut my losses and toss em. If they are not going to taste the same or burn right, why bother?

Re: Cigars wet by activation solution
PG is added to most pipe tobaccos, so it woun't hurt you. It would affect the burn though. Pipe tobaccos treated heavily with it can be tough to keep burning.
