Anyone have this happen?

I was smoking a NUB 464 last night and 1/2 way through it, the wrapper wrinkled up but didn't burn. The baccy smoked just fine but didn't burn the wrapper. I didn't realize I was done till my fingers were very very warm...

Upon grinding the cigar on my huge 7/11 cup to see what the deal was, I was greeted by a cigar that was done from the inside but still looked relatively healthy on the outside.

Wierd?

Its a big cigar so maybe all i could draw on was the inside of the cigar.. so maybe thats it.

Re: Anyone have this happen?

I have heard of several people having construction issues with these.

Re: Anyone have this happen?

It's called tunneling. Usually, the outer filler and wrapper is wetter than the middle when that happens.

happens with some of my cigars from time to time, a quick touch up with a flame sets the cigar straight.

That is the reason I let almost (an I said almost) all my new purchases rest in the humi for 1-3 months so that the wrapper and filler all acclimate to the same rh. I find that storing and resting the smokes at 65% prevents most tunneling and burn issues.

I usually have problems when smoking cigars fresh from the vendor/B&M. I had an Oliva V Maduro go completely out on me the other day. I should have rested it a bit longer.

Re: Anyone have this happen?

I have had this happen the on the last few of my sticks- either tunneling, or only some of the wrapper burning. I have dry-boxed the sticks for a day (and I live in a pretty dry area), but it still seems to happen.

Does my walks have anything to do with it? I usually always smoke a cigar while taking a walk outside. Is the movement with my hands, wind, etc. causing the problem also?

The worst part so far is that I could not take my torch lighter with me on the plane, so I had to buy a POS Bic lighter, which basically is worthless with lighting cigars.
