Cigarillo: Cigar, or Cigarette?
So, I just got my JR Trick or Treat bundles in and got 200 Black Cherry Cigarillos in them (which I won't smoke simply because it contains chemical additives - one of the reasons I love cigars). ArnaudDMR got the same thing: "As to the cherry cigarillos....yeah.....still wondering about that one."
So, I'm curious. Do you all feel that a cigarillo is closer to a cigar or a cigarette, and do you (will you) smoke one? My vote: It's a cigarette, and I won't smoke them. |

Re: Cigarillo: Cigar, or Cigarette?
I believe that technically speaking, a cigarette has a paper wrapper, where as a cigar has a leaf wrapper. Also cigarettes are always short filler with stuff added to keep them burning and assist in nicotine absorbtion.
Do those really have additives? |

Re: Cigarillo: Cigar, or Cigarette?
Thanks for the info. Didn't some states ban those additives which keep the cigarette burning?
In any case, each pack of cigarillos ( Clubmaster Fellows Black Cherry) has this on it: "Warning: This Product Contains/Produces Chemicals Known To The State Of California To Cause Cancer And Birth Defects Or Other Reproductive Harm." (Their caps, btw, not mine) I think I've seen the same warning on some lesser, drug store 'cigars' as well (Don Sevilles, for example). Another question: Does the smoke from a pure tobacco leaf cause cancer? I'm not sure that's been proven, stripped of additives. I'm asking because I focused on the word "Contains" instead of "Produces" in that warning. |

Smoke from anything is carcinogenic, but very much less so when not inhaled. The additives in cigarettes don't actually add to the carcinogenic properties of the cigarette. Introducing anything to your lungs, throat or mouth that isn't supposed to go there will damage the cells and increase the risk of cancer. Us cigar smokers assume the increased risk of throat and jaw cancer, which is why the cancer warnings are found on cigars. The culprit is the tar, which is produced from burning any tobacco, additives or not. |

Re: Cigarillo: Cigar, or Cigarette?
In response to your question. It depends who makes it. There are cigarillos that are more cigar and ones that are more cigarette.
Bottom line. Smoke cigars. ![]() |

Re: Cigarillo: Cigar, or Cigarette?
it definately depends on the cigarillo in question. if youre talking swisher sweets with some tobacco/paper wrapper, then id go with closer to a cigarette in look and taste.

Re: Cigarillo: Cigar, or Cigarette?
I don't think a cigarillo is a cigarette I just think the additive is dumb and a way to hide bad tobacco. It is more like an Acid or Grape White Owl than a cigarette.

Re: Cigarillo: Cigar, or Cigarette?
I would gauge the "cheapness" of the cigarillo (because technically, that's what it is) by wether or not the wrapper seems to be natural (whole) leaf, or homogenized tobacco pulp. If it's homogenized it's probably cheap stuff that I might mentally consider too close to a cigarette. On the other hand, there are some very nice leaf wrapped cigarillos as well. I think just like "full sized" cigars, it all depends on how well it's made.

Re: Cigarillo: Cigar, or Cigarette?
Suprise bundles often are a way for a company to unload crap sticks. I haven't seen anyone who took the Haloween Grab Bag get anything worth while, mostly bundles and tins of crap. Maybe best to spend the $40 elsewhere
