CAO - A Company to Stand By

Over the summer I grew fond of CAO cigars. I started to buy them up like a mad man. I had a quest to try them all, and I did. I grew quite fond of CAO's line, especially the Mx2. However, I started to notice that they had a draw issue. After awhile I noticed that actually a good number of the Mx2 cigars I bought had a draw issue. I decided to email CAO and let them know about the issue. All of their other cigars I enjoyed.

I sent the email over the summer and heard nothing back immediately. I, of course, forgot about the whole thing till roughly three weeks ago I got an email back from them. They wanted my shipping address so they could replace my damaged cigars. Now I think I told them I only had like issues with 5 of the 10 cigars I purchased. I was thrilled they were going to replace them though.

Fast forward to today. I have a huge box in front of my door when I get home from class. Lo and behold its a shipment from CAO. They didn't just replace my cigars, they gave me a proverbial shit ton of cigars. They gave me a box of their Mx2 toros and 2 packs of their Mx2 dagger tins.

This went above and beyond my expectations. This is typical of the cigar industry as a whole. It is not often you will find a company that is so dedicated to both their product, their reputation, and the customer. CAO has proven to me that they are a company to stand by.

That is very cool! I actually have a problem witht the CAO. Everytime I smoke a CAO Brazilia, there'll always be a curveball in my plan.

It's great to see a company so committed to their product and consumer to go out of their way like this to really make things right.

I've enjoyed all the CAO's I've smoked to date - I may need to go ahead and invest in more to show my support for 'em.

Good on CAO!

Re: CAO - A Company to Stand By

Wow! That is incredibly awesome of them! I've rarely come across a completely useless draw from most brands I've tried but there's been a couple. Most recently was from a 5 pack of varied Fonseca's from JR. The first one was perfect, but the second (a different line) was completely plugged. I tried cutting it several times both at the front and the back but no luck so I pitched it. I was really ticked this time though cause it's a real waste of money plus I didn't get to actually sample that line. It's great that CAO did right by you and hooked you up!

That is very cool of them to do that. I know some people don't like their cigars or their marketing; but I have no issues with them. This can only solidify their reputations as one of the better manufacturers/distributers in the business.

Re: CAO - A Company to Stand By

I think that this is awesome. I had a similar thing happen to me. I bought a box of Visions. I found that the humidor part - or the hygrometer part - was not functioning well. Turns out that the seal was not the best in the world. It works but it's not something you want to age your Visions in. So I emailed CAO and got the VP for customer support. VERY nice lady and very respectful of my situation. Offered to replace the whole box (just the box not the smokes as they were fine). I told her that it wasn't necessary as I moved the sticks over. She recommeded the HumidiPaks and that did the job for a little. But she offered to replace the whole box because the digital readout was not calibrated properly.

I have never had any issues with their service. The reps are all top notch and great guys/gals to boot. Whether you like the smokes or not, their company has always had the customer in mind. I think that this is what really pulls them apart from the crowd...and made me a loyal fan.

Re: CAO - A Company to Stand By

CAOs have had these issues for years, but have been quite good with their customer service.

5 or so years ago they were rolled by Torano (I believe) back when CAO was just a smaller boutique brand. It was around that time that I found their CAO Maduro and really liked it.

Shortly after, they switched production to Perdomo. I was no longer a fan. (No idea who does what for them now).

That being said, I've spoken with both CAO reps and Nick Perdomo, and both outfits were top notch.

They're the best IMO. Great cigars and great people. That's awesome about the package.

Re: CAO - A Company to Stand By

Glad they took care of you. I bought a box of MX2's in September 2006 and have five left. I must be lucky because I haven't had a problem with any of the ones I've smoked.
