Re: At what point did you know you were hooked?

I hadn't smoked a cigar in years and one night I smokes a cigar that I had left over from handouts on the kid being born (they were montes). Went outside and smoked it and had an incredibly relaxing time like none I ever had. 2 weeks later I had 3 boxes and a 100 count humidor and I was HOOKED!!

Now both Vinos AND the cooler are full, and I am debating what to do with the 90 cigars I got today and the 50 that will be here next week.
EXACTLY.
I realized I was hooked when the fridge/freezer I was using to freeze new stuff became the 2nd fridgeador. Then the very 1st (now empty) coolerdor became the NC-a-dor, then the overflowador. Now I have a "double-ziploc-ador" which is the overflow to the overflow, and have more en route.
Crap.

You're going to have to buy a new "houseador" soon to hold all them sticks!

I was on the one-or-two-stick per YEAR plan until my taste buds changed about 10 months ago... Started really liking cigars, stopped liking beef jerky. Weird.

About my 1st month here! Bought a bigger humi and my credit card started showing more cigar purchases than anything else.

Some 42 years ago chewing on a machine made while walking point in Nam. Somewhere in the back of my mind I envisioned the day when I might be able to sit back and really enjoy a good cigar.

Re: At what point did you know you were hooked?

Almost 3 years ago now we had to have our basement redone, and the contractor was the husband of a woman at work. He brought back some cigars from the domincan for me when they had finished all the work, and that was it, I was hooked.

There is nothing better on a fall day than sitting next to your firepit smoking a cigar.

I thank you for your service and your bravery! I'm glad you are now able to sit back and enjoy cigars, you certainly deserve it!!

I may be the lone dissenter, but I don't think associating cigars with addiction is in our best interests.

Re: At what point did you know you were hooked?

I knew I was hooked when all I thought about were cigars. I couldn't wait to smoke my next one. I wanted to find the perfect one. I filled up my first 65 count quickly and ordered a 125 count several months after. Now I spend hours on cigar forums with people who understand how slippery the slope is. If only my wife appreciated my passion for the leaf.

Re: At what point did you know you were hooked?

I was hooked even before my first cigar. The aroma had me and when I smoked my first cigar it was a no brainer from that point on. I remember too, that it never made me sick or light headed probably because the cigar was mild. After smoking them on and off for a few months I graduated to medium cigars and never looked back.

I don't believe any one of us is addicted to cigars. I know that for myself, I am hooked on the experiance - which is not like any other that you can have.
