At what point did you know you were hooked?

I remember years back when smoking cigars was a rare thing for me. Only on weddings, births, birthdays, raise$, or a great night out with the boys. At one point that all changed for me and that was when I started to visit the Brick and Mortar shops. They are the way I got hooked. I know for a fact that I was not hooked initially by the taste of tobacco but instead I was hooked by the people. The people such as regulars that seem to always be there just hanging around or the people behind the counter that would welcome you in like an old friend. As time went on I found myself finding any excuse I could to stop by the shops. I was hooked!

After I enjoyed a sampler from Costa Rica, I found JR Cigars and that was the beginning of the end for me. Little did I know that first bundle of Connies and a 20ct humi was just going to be the beginning.

Haha. My only regret is that I did not find this passion for cigars sooner in life. Most cigar guys are solid as can get and we all love to share a story about the last favorite cigar we smoked.

Re: At what point did you know you were hooked?

Can't remember the exact time for stogies for me. Always loved the smell when my dad would have one, and took puffs of it when I was younger. Turned 18, went off to college, and eventually got hooked, a lot the same way with the B&Ms. NCRadioMan helped out with that getting me here, but I believe I was hooked a little bit before. Greg also helped out when he got me to buy my first pipe, was hooked instantly on that and haven't looked back since. It's been just over a year since I started the pipe, and I've got about 25 briars, a couple meers, and some cobs. No turning back now.

Re: At what point did you know you were hooked?

Funny thing is I probably smoked a pipe before I started with cigars. I was probably 16 when I would go to the drugstore to get a corn cobb and find some aromatics at the Tinder Box.

I smoked a few swisher sweets when I was 17, didn't have my first real cigar, a Zino til I was 18 or so. It never hit me then, but it sure did two years ago.

Re: At what point did you know you were hooked?

I had always smoked one when it was presented to me but never went and bought one for myself. My father-in-law brought me back a Cohiba from Jamica and I saved it for a couple of months in a bag with a humidity packet my buddy gave me. I had moved away from the town I had lived in for the last 15 years and the same buddy came to visit. He brought a couple of smokes with him so I thought it would be a good time to bring out my Cohiba. We sat back enjoyed a couple of beers, smokes and some good conversation. That night he introduced me to his favorite smoke (Acid 5) and i have been hooked ever since.

Re: At what point did you know you were hooked?

I realised I was hooked when I smoked a few MC#4's and fell in love. I then bought a box of MC#4's and a humidor ----> The rest is history.

I have now smoked alot of great cigars and to this day the MC#4 is still be nicest cigar I have ever had

Re: At what point did you know you were hooked?

When I smoked my first Cuban, a Bolivar Royal Corona. Went back to the (legit) store in Nassau the next day, bought a travel humdior and a bunch more cigars.

Then I discovered Club Stogie....it was all downhill from there.

Great first cuban - One of my favorites! Do you still smoke them on a regular occasion?

That's just what I did! I bought some connies to age and a 150 count humi (I went with a larger size so I'd have to fill it in order to reach the proper humidity level ). One week later Gurkha Regents were discontinued and were going for insanely cheap prices, so I bought a box and never looked back.

Re: At what point did you know you were hooked?

it's funny, I think I should have clearer memories of more meaningful events, but this one is razor sharp.

I waked into a B&M across from a Harbor Frieght store.

they had a lounge. I asked the guy for a really good smoke, though I was a total Newbie.

He handed me a Oliva V, Churchill Extra, and invited me to smoke it in the lounge.

I was floored! I went home and told the wife , i would no longer hid behind the garage to sneak in a swisher sweet, and that i was going to have a good stogie (on the porch of course) if I wanted to.

Surprisingly ,She gave me a Humi for Christmas, and the rest is history.

Re: At what point did you know you were hooked?

I was in denial until I set up my second Vinotemp, started moving stuff from the cooler into the Vinotemp, and realized there wasn't enough room in the Vinotemp. See, my plan was to have everything fit into 2 Vinotemps and get rid of the cooler.

Now both Vinos AND the cooler are full, and I am debating what to do with the 90 cigars I got today and the 50 that will be here next week.
