Anyone have problems lately with tight draw of Fonseca's?
I got a variety 5 pack of Fonseca from JR Cigars recently. 2 of the 3 I've smoked so far have had extremely tight draws, one being so tight it was completely unsmokeable. I left them in my humi for a while so it's not the humidity level (under 70%). Also, a co-worker who got one in the CigarsInternational humi + 8 cigars deal told me his was hard to draw from, and that humi was also humidified correctly. So, so far I've had a cedros and a standard that was fine and the two I've had problems with were the Serie F, which I had to throw out, and the Vegas de Fonseca which I managed to smoke with much effort and face sucking lol. The one my co-worker had a tight draw with was a standard Fonseca. I went to their site to get their contact info to e-mail them about it and none of their contact info works, not through the website and the e-mail addresses they provide all come back with delivery failure.
It's really a shame cause I like the taste of the Fonseca's but I'm a bit worried about taking the chance with trying them again. It's a severe waste of money if the draw is way too tight and if I have to throw out a cigar here and there. So, anyone have issues with NC Fonseca's as of late? Anyone know any other way to contact them? I'd rather not call the listed phone numbers on the Matasa website. Rev. |

Man, that sucks (pun not intended). Sorry about the luck with those, but I wouldn't know how to get a hold of them. I would actually talk to JR about it myself. They'd probably be willing to help you with contact info, but I'm sure they'd be willing to comp you some cigars since the ones you got weren't satisfactory.

but yeah it's a good point cause at the very least they might have a contact for me to e-mail. Or they may try to tell me it's all my fault and flip me off J/KRev. |

Re: Anyone have problems lately with tight draw of Fonseca's?
I've had two in the last couple weeks, Serie F and 5-50 N. Neither had a draw problem. If the rain clears tonight I'll crack open a 5-pack of Fonseca Habanas and see how those are. Both of mine were rested in humi for ~3/4 weeks.

I think the Fonseca Serie F is a nice cigar.
Of course, you can get some tight rolls in just about any line of cigar, but dry boxing them for a few days might be the answer next time. If I clip one to find a tight draw, I throw it in a nonhumidified desktop humi for a few days & it rarely doesn't help make the cigar smokeable.
