My cigars taste funny

oh weird... i didn't know cutting off too little cap could make it taste bitter... i always cut off as little as I can because i read everywhere that if you cut too much you risk it unravelling and such

Gonna try another one tonight now that I've gotten more sleep. Hopefully it'll be better. I was thinking it could be from the coolidor... that maybe I didn't get all the plastic smell out. But I have it lined with spanish cedar and I've smoked others out of it before a few days ago that were fine.

Same thing happened to me in Iraq. I thought all my cigars had gone bad, but it was just the sinus infection I was getting.

It's actually a HUGE relief! I was so worried that somehow my coolidor was messing up the taste and I've got a couple hundred cigars in there!

Well the good news is your catching it early. I actually tossed out about 30 sticks before someone on here told me about the sinuses and medications doing that.

Ok it's been about 3 weeks and I still have the same problem. I still don't believe it's a problem with my humis because of how suddenly this started and the fact that I DID get sick. However, I'm surprised if it could be the sickness causing it for three solid weeks. This is so weird.

If you are like me, a cold will slowly do away over about a month's time. That bad taste is the smoke getting caught in the thickened mucus in your throat, sinuses, lungs, and mouth. Even after your sinuses clear and you stop coughing, it may take a few weeks before your mucus thins back out. drinking lots of water will help speed things up. Happens to me at least twice a year, now's one of them.

FWIW I've been fighting a cold and flu for two weeks. I had a cigar last Thursday when I was at the height of my cold and the taste was way off. I tend to agree with soundman85 about how the smoke can cling to mucus lined passages. Can you describe the funny taste? Is it stronger with different cigars?

The cigars have an odd taste and they all have it, regardless of what I smoke. I had one at the bar tonight given to me by a friend and it wasn't quite as off as the others I've had lately. So either I'm getting better or mine are just bad somehow. I gave one to a friend who's going to try it and let me know what he thinks. Hopefully it's just me.
