You know, that's the best way to handle it. I just wish people actually realized the damage loss of business can do. 95% of time time the people working there have no stake in the business whatsoever and don't give a rat's ass if you say, "Well then I'll take my business elsewhere". They don't stop to think a decline in business can cost them their jobs or at the very least their loss in tips.

When it comes to something like that people also don't realize that it's not as simple as "just putting out the cigar". Some of our stogies are seriously freaking expensive! I wouldn't just "put out" a $13 smoke 5 minutes after lighting it, especially when the mistake wasn't mine. Perhaps if they'd said, "First round (or two) of drinks are on us for the misunderstanding" I would be more inclined to do so as I would respect the gesture.

Exactly. If they had made any effort at all to send a few drinks our way to offset the wasted cigars and inconvenience, I might have been inclined to stay. But, not surprisingly, they didn't.

Thanks for all the input guys. I definately wasn't trying to start an us and them rally against cigarette smokers. I am an ex-smoker of cigarettes and feel people should have the right to do what they want in smoking establishments (BTW there were no anti-cigar posters anywhere in the casino). I pretty much just posted this to vent and also gloat alittle about mine and my friends victory. That is, not having to put out our stogies especially on what I felt was a momentous ocassion. Thanks again for all of you being here

Congratulations to your friend

Earlier this year I received a similar complaint from my neighbour sitting at the same large table as my wife and I.

We were of all places at an outdoor venue.... the Tropicana..... in Havana

Never would have thunk it. Needless to say I carried on my merry way until I finished it.
