You call it the slope, my father in-law called it the fever. He knows I just bought a small, vary small humi because I'm still a green horn about this. He calls the other day and said he'd going to give me his old humi. I told him I already have one that size. No he said! I've got 2 others now and the one that holds about 100 sticks is all he needs, he's giving me the 50 stick holder. As much as I have come to enjoy cigars, I can't imagine ever having over 50 cigars at any one time.

Re: Discussion about "The Slope" - An Introspective

I actually sat down last weekend and made up my "wish/must-have" list in a spreadsheet. Just the stuff I really, really want to have an ample supply of in my cooler. Came out to 204 cigars, just under $700, not counting shipping, and if I had the finances for it, I would gladly order two or even three of each one. That's not so bad, right?

As someone in another thread said, it's not so much a "slope" as it is you standing in the back of an airplane, and instead of a parachute you have two BOTLs handing you anvils. Seriously, by biggest regret is that I didn't start the Plummet years ago.

Re: Discussion about "The Slope" - An Introspective

I got started when I picked up a couple pipes and some tabacco. I don't even know why I did it really. Suffice to say I don't like cigarettes.

I'm obsessive compulsive and must have everything in a hobby thats possible at the time given the funds. I'll go broke adding another hobby to my collection.

I've smoked a few cigars over the last few years but never had a humi. When I picked up a few at the store near my office I realized quickly that the prices are crazy and online they are somewhat cheaper to get, especially in a box or bundle.

Can't buy a bundle without something to put them in, so I started down the slope. My OCD kicked in and I had to fill that box and once the 300ct was full I made the mistake of getting that one more box I didn't expect and needed more room. I then got a 200ct humi and half filled that.

I've since then realized that I need to settle down and smoke them before getting more or I'll have my own cigar shop in the making.

I've stopped buying for the most part. I'll figure out which ones I like and then keep a couple boxes on hand of my favorites.

It's never a slope for me with any hobby.... it's more like a cliff, and I leap almost every time. - BADS197

Re: Discussion about "The Slope" - An Introspective

I'm in serious trouble also. I had a small baggie which grew to a 75 cnt humi that my wife bought me. Then I went to Big Smoke last year...and went nuts. I came home and bought a 200 count humi but filled it fast. So to make a long story short, I tapped my arm for the dose and wound up buying another 150 humi, a 300 humi and then a 2000 cabinet. Oh lord am I in trouble.

I did a count just the other day. I could smoke a cigar everyday for the next two years and would be able to bring my supply down to on humi. I give out a bunch to friends and other brothers. SO it might be a little less time.

Of course I just got back from this year's Big Smoke....uh oh

Re: Discussion about "The Slope" - An Introspective

I started with a couple of cigars in my golf bag kept in a baggie with a piece of damp sponge to keep them fresh. The I went looking for cigar reviews and found Top25 cigar. That led me to Club Stogie, my OCD kicks in and within a year I've met some great people, got more info than I really should know about cigars and I've got (2) 50 count humidors, a 100 count humidor and another large one that must hold 300. The humidors all filled up with smokes bought and traded from all over the planet

I reduced my personal inventory to about 300 cigars by giving a bunch away to freinds. I haven't bought anything recently but I can tell you that some of the cigars I purchased years ago are really good right now.

It's fun and, at the same time, insane Don't ya love it

I thought it was a big deal to fill a 50 ct. until I realized that's only 2 boxes and a few singles. I'm going tomorrow to buy another 150 qt. cooler and will probably have that near full by the New Year This week alone I got: 30 Edge toro maddies, box of Harvest Blend, 2 boxes of Fumadores, box of V maddies, and a whole bunch of singles. Plus, we're having a herf tomorrow at one of the best B&Ms in the Chicagoland area. I'm fugged

Same boat!

Since April of this year I've gone from a 25 ct. humi to a Vino stuffed to the gills with 314 cigars (as of today's purchase of 10 CAO Brazilia Gol's).

Absolute insanity which cannot be resisted.
