Re: Do you look/wait for sales?
No because I try not to purchase from online vendors. However I do check the WTS forum here every day.
EDIT: Because any BOTL is going to sell cheaper then any vendor. |

Re: Do you look/wait for sales?
I just buy from Rob, he always has some kind of a deal going on......lol But when I'm not buying from him or my B&M I look for the best deal before I buy and some times I will wait for a deal to come along, some times I just take the best deal that I can find at the time. I also have cretin thing that I tend to buy from the same place time after time if for no other reason than to support a small vendor that I like to deal with.

Re: Do you look/wait for sales?
It depends. Sometimes there's something that I'm thinking about buying and the sale helps push me to pull the trigger. Other times I'll go ahead and buy because I really want the cigars.

Re: Do you look/wait for sales?
I feel like I'm in a pretty good place, right now. I have a pretty decent stash on hand, so I don't feel any pressure to buy anything "today". And, none of the things on my must-buy list are particularly rare, exotic, or expensive. Most of them show up on c-bid and Joe's Daily fairly regularly, so I can wait for a deal. I can low-ball c-bid, and if one "gets away", I'm not too upset about it, I'll just bid on another lot until I win one at a price point I can live with. If I change my mind about one of them and decide I do want it right now, the full CI prices aren't too horrible and I can just get a box. Yeah, I really do want them, but I'm not really desperate for anything at the moment.

Re: Do you look/wait for sales?
Sure do, it is available to everyone. They have an online site.
www.thepartysource.com or call 866-78-CIGAR for the best prices on everything. Unlike some stores, they have to abide by MAP rather then listing non-stop sales. But true prices are usually a bit lower. ![]()

Re: Do you look/wait for sales?
It hit the devils site recently and have bought many things from CI and Holts. I have gotten my best deals on the WTS board here though

Re: Do you look/wait for sales?
I am on so many emailing lists for deals that I seriously need an intervention. Most of my deals come from C Bid ( and yes, know your inventory ) and from TampaHumidor because I can buy singles for no shipping and they have a good inventory available. It's even gotten so bad I have a friend making some cigar ornaments that are being sent to me next week,,,I supply the bands he makes the cigars. I have totally lost my mind!

Re: Do you look/wait for sales?
I look for sales more so now than ever. I probably get 4-5 e-mail messages a day about specials being run...but how many times you see the special prices in the ad, then check 2-3 other websites, only to find out it's no great deal after all. Probably one in five is a legit deal with big savings.
NOW, if you see the deals offshore, those prices are dropping like crazy due to exchange rates and soft sales. Those are very hard to resist.

Re: Do you look/wait for sales?
Being from Canada, and the horrible taxes on smokes up here, everything from online retailers seems like a deal. Also, I am firmly in the second stage of the romance with stogies. Meaning, I am narrowing down my preferred smokes. So I look at a number of on line retailers for specific items and pull the trigger when I see something I know I like that seems to be good deal.

I do look at Joe Cigar an awful lot! Sometimes there are some great deals there. Not always, but sometimes.

Re: Do you look/wait for sales?
This is an interesting discussion.
I think I have a slightly different opinion, to me cheaper is not always better. ![]() I will start by saying I already have a decent sized collection, so I really don't buy that often these days. If I come across a deal that I cannot pass up, I usually pull the trigger. Back when I was buying more, I used to buy from a couple of different vendors and tried to stay away from the larger shops (Famous, CI, cigarbid). [I would buy from Holts if they had a really good deal or sampler, but that is a different story.] Since I live in CA, taxes are horrible, so buying from local shops is really not an option unless I am just getting a couple of singles. So I found a couple of out of state B&Ms and tried to develop a relationship and buying history, so when the rare stuff came out I might be able to get a couple of sticks at close to MSRP (e.g. OpusX, anejos. . .). This actually worked pretty well. So if I had to pay $10 more for a box of something to get on the "regulars" list, that was a price I was willing to pay. Plus, once you are treated like a regular, you often get a better discount as well. ![]() Now a days, I only buy from 2-3 shops and it is basically the same principle. I have developed a relationship with these B&Ms and want to give them business. Just my ![]()
