For peace of mind if you can't get temp controlled storage, just inspect your cigars often. And you may want to start freezing (plenty of threads on this also).

Even though I have temp control, I still freeze just about everything.
Hey Bob & Hazman, yeah, I started to worry as I noticed my humi staying above 70 in one of the coolest lower levels in my home. I noticed it even got to the high 70's at one point. That was enough to get me to run down to Target and pick up 2 Vino's on clearance.

And whattaya know, even having a tupperdor in the Vino for a month, I noticed beetles inside, I'm sure from keeping it in too high temp & too high humidity before the Vino-days.

But this was the only time I froze my cigars. I've heard mixed things about freezing cigars so I haven't been doing it. Some have mentioned freezing messing with the flavor of a cigar...who knows. Donnie and jkorp are probably right to freeze though as a precaution.

But do you disinfect?

I kept mine in my closet for a while before the Vino but the Boogerman got to them.

I have never had a beetle issue, but you guys have me worried now. I am thinking of going the route of the freezer prior to entering the cabinet.

Yes indeed.

Same here, found a hole in a Piedra from a 5x5 box once, also found a smooshed / dead larvae in the bottom of a wrapped Piedra bundle and lastly a larvae in the foot of a BGM. These are my 3 beetle scares, I started freezing everything after the first one.

It's been said a million times and I'll say it again, "better safe than sorry."
