Re: Gurhka's Are they really worth the money?

A few years ago when I started this hobby my humidors were full of Gurkhas, but with new sticks coming out almost on a monthly basis it seems the quality has gone down. Worth the money is really a matter of personal opinion. I have friends who think anything over $10 is insane, yet I have bought $40+ cigars and believed they were worth every penny. As stated earlier: whatever floats your boat.

There are many Gurks that are a nice 4-5 dollar stick. I've not had a terrible one yet ,but the opinions of the BOTL's on here can't be discounted. Most don't like them. So try a couple but heed the advice of the jungle, more often than not they're on the money.

I like the ones I've tried, but it is a bit ludicrous how many varieties there are, and the super expensive ones- what $75,000 for a chest of 10 or some such thing- are beyond the pale. But the Regent, Doble Maduro, Fuerte and others mentioned above are good smoke IMO.

I tend to like them. At least give them a try, you may like them or you may not, but at least you can decide for yourself.

I supose it depends on which sticks you are talking about. Can any stick really be worth $50 or more? that's a high expectation to meet.

Re: Gurhka's Are they really worth the money?

Are they worth the Price? It depends on the price and your preferences. I enjoy Gurkhas but the more recent lines I have purchased did not live up to my expectations. The lines I am most fond of are ones I bought in quantity some time ago so more recent quality concerns haven't shown up. Personally, I am quite happy with a $3 class regent but don't have much use for the same cigar priced at $7. I don't suggest buying any Gurkhas at Brick & Mortar retail establishments because the price discrepancy between B&M and online is ridiculous. If you want to give the brand a shot see if you can find a sampler, otherwise class regents (which used to be more or less the standard gurkha) are a good intro and what used to be the K. Hansotia Triple Ligero that seems to now be a Gurkha line (you may want to double check) was a particularly rich maduro. So in short they are worth trying at discounted internet rates, then you can determine the worth of the cigars based on your own tastes.

I also wouldn't put too much stock in the opinions of others even on this particularly knowledgeable site hence my recommendation to simply try them at the best price. That warning goes double for whatever I say.

I personally enjoy them. The retail price is too much, IMO, but they can be found at great deals for around $2-5 a stick online.

Ive got a bunch of Gurkha's in my vino and I haven't paid MSRP for a single one yet.

If you order anything from CI then right before you check out they will offer you 10 Titans for $39. Get them and try them out. The last 1/3rd of the smoke is my favorite part of the stick.

Re: Gurhka's Are they really worth the money?

There are some Gurkhas I like reasonably well. I find them a bit overpriced for the most part, as there are many sticks I like as well or better for less money.
