I haven't, as of yet, had an opportunity to try any Gurhka sticks. I've seen some of their "ridiculous" pricing (IMHO).
I was just wondering if anyone could shed some light on these, good, bad, indifferent. I do have 5 Vulcans coming to the house this week, I will let you all know what I thought of them. Thanks for the input guys! I really appreciate it. ![]() |

Re: Gurhka's Are they really worth the money?
Gurkhas are a rather polorizing topic. I'll say this, some of their sticks are good (regents, Nepalese Warrior, master's select, centurian) and some are awful (most of the rest IMO). They are NOT worth the MSRP, but some are worth what they sell for, or better yet, what you can get them for on Cbid. I would make a point never to pay more than 4-5 dollars per stick for any of them.

Re: Gurhka's Are they really worth the money?
Not a single one is worth the MSRP, but, there are some which are very very good. If you hit CBID you will start to pay what they are worth. I really like the titans (you can score then for 4-5 bucks and they are worth that) and the legends. I also really like the royal Brigade perfectos. Again, CBID you can score a 5ver for like $20-23. As long as you are not paying MSRP for one, you should be ok. Also, keep an eye on CI. They always have these insane Gurkha deals. Right now I think they have two 6 packs, buy both for like $40... 12 different sticks for $40.. you cannot go wrong at that price.

Re: Gurhka's Are they really worth the money?
Not worth it for the price they sell for at the B&M IMHO. But if you can get some off of c-bid for cheap then why not try them your self and see if you like them.

Re: Gurhka's Are they really worth the money?
I'm new to cigars so take my opinion FWIW.
![]() I signed up for the Cigar of the Month club on cigar.com, on the month-to-month plan. For the first month they send you all Gurkha's (5) for $29.95. You get a Titan, Beast, Centurian, Legend Churchill and Legend Perfecto - again, for only $29.95. I loved the Centurian and liked the Titan - the others are still in my humi. Re: Gurhka's Are they really worth the money?
I agree with Bigloo, the Royal Brigade is pretty good. Parroting everyone else, I don't think anyone should, or needs to, pay full retail for Gurkha. But there are plenty of deals out there and many are worth a try. I didn't like the Sherpa which I think is on the low end of the price scale, but the perfectos are pretty good, IMHO, especially if you find a decent price. Cheers

Re: Gurhka's Are they really worth the money?
I've found a few that I consider to be good cigars. I gave up on the brand when I started running into, what I considered to be, a majority of dog rockets.
Unlike a hitter in baseball, a cigar manufacturer, or simply brand marketer (which is what K. Hansotia is), need to bat like .700 or better to keep me interested. Gurkha might be batting .200-.300, so Gurkha fell off my buying grid. I've also noted in the past (I don't buy Gurkhas any more), that consistant quality & flavor seems to be a big problem with Gurkha. I started running into dog rockets in some of the Gurkha offerings that I had previously liked.

I absolutely understand what you mean by that. I like consistency with my brands. I dunno, I suppose it's a level of comfort/reasonable expectation type thing. I don't neccessarily want a completely different experience each time I reach for a stick. There are very specific reasons for me as to why I smoke the same brand year after year. I suppose thats why for me I have had such a longterm realationship with La Finca. I mostly smoke nicaraguan anyway, and they, where they may not be "exceptional super premimums" offer, IMO a great stick. Predictable, year after year, reasonably priced. Just my thought! Thanks! ![]() |

Ok ,,I'll admit it ,,I'm a Ghurka Ho. I like the Beast, Titan, Grand Age, Black Puro, Centurian, Fuerte X, and the Royal Brigade.. Do I think they are overpriced?? Yes ,,but not as much as some others such as the Graycliff and the Montecristo,, I guess its whatever floats your boat.

Re: Gurhka's Are they really worth the money?
I've had about a dozen so far, and most of them were just OK, but the Class Regent toro totally knocked my socks off. I wouldn't pay the purely hypothetical $10 MSRP that CI lists them at, but as long as I can get them for under $4, I'll take a bunch of them.
