Re: Sopranos...

Gandolfini comfirmed a while back that they smoke whatever is brought in that day. Crew and cast members would rotate and bring in cigars....some good, some bad, etc.
So one day he could be puffing on an Arturo Fuente, the next day a Macanudo, and perhaps the next day a Gurkha. He made it seem that random.

Re: Sopranos...

When I first started out I would smoke whatever was available as well. Now - Id rather smoke nothing then a stick I know will either be bad or not very enjoyable.

That's very interesting Jon , but what does that have to do with the sopranos?

Re: Sopranos...

They have smoked Cohibas, Montecristos, CAO's, Macanudos, and a few other brands on the Sopranos.

Re: Sopranos...

I remember one episode where Tony was smoking a macanudo and remember being somewhat let down. I mean, what kind of mob boss smokes macanudos?

There was an episode where they were having a poker game and he got onto one of his guys about giving Macanudos to less important gangsters, said he should have saved the Macanudos. He was PROTECTIVE of the Macanudos!

Re: Sopranos...

The way I remember that episode was he asked one of the "hang around guys" (Chris's friends that were trying to get connected). Anyway, he asked him if he got the Macanudos. Then he said good, get one for me and give one to (2 other guys at the table). Don't remember him ever getting into anybody about giving them to the lower ranks. Then he gave his Doctor Neighbor that box of Cuban Motecristo's.

True, but like most places where there's a rotation in who brings in stuff, nobody wants to be the person that brought bunk goods.

It was like a past company I worked at, where for our Wednesday dept meeting, one person would bring bagels and cream cheese for everyone....we all had our places to go, but never did anyone bring in grocery store crap bagels...nobody wanted to be that person.

Maybe what was meant by that was he didn't want to give them the Macanudos because they're not worth the low quality of the cigar.

I also remember in a couple episodes Tony would be smoking a cigar with a round to oval shaped ring, red in color with lighter coloured accents. Almost like a Upmanns' ring.

Anyone who has the DVD's needs to look at some episodes, pause it and zoom in on it to get a good look.
