Holts is the new Thompsons...

I sent about 5 emails asking to get taken off their email list and to have them stop sending me stuff... also, I logged into my account there (I bought one thing once) and there's no place to unsubscribe (which is against the law).

Gah... obviously, as a result of thier refusal to remove me from their lists, I will never purchase anything from them again, but it frustrates the hell out of me when a vendor has no regards for the wishes of a customer.

i am the guy who will defend thompson.. their products are good, and their customer serivice is fine.

But all those stupid phone calls are killing me!!!

Report the Holt's emails as spam and you should stop getting them. As for Thompson, I just made my first order, then a second after some moron called and offered me free shipping and an extra 15% off. I took the code and hung up on the caller. Nothing like an extra 15% off and free shipping

Yeah, on 11/26 I created a case against them via FTC and I reported them to their domain host via SpamCop. I'm really not happy about their continued disregard.

As far as Thompson's, I've never personally dealt with them, but I've heard the horror stories... they sound a lot like what is happening with Holts (hence the comparison).

what are the horror stories of thompson. i hear about the phone calls and packing, but what else is there? i have ordered a sampler from them, before coming to the forums. i have received the annoying phone calls, actually just a phone call when i placed an order saying my order has shipped and also the phone call offering me more cigars. not to bad.

also the cigars that were sent were just wrapped in a plastic bag, all in good condition. how should they be properly wrapped?

Same thing here man. I eventually called Holts and they removed me from the mailing list. BS for sure, but at least I don't get emails from them anymore.

I respectfully disagree. I have never had a problem with Holts (although I haven't asked to be removed from their e-mail list). I think they are head and shoulders above Thompson.

I don't see the big deal, though. If I don't want the e-mail, I delete it. It's not like they are flooding my inbox.

I've ordered from Thompson's and there is an option to opt out of the emails and phone calls when you order. I could only guess Holt's has something similar. I never give permission for anyone to contact me.

I ordered a couple samplers from Holts and I have never recieved an e-mail or phone call from them other then the e-mail pertaining to my order.

When I have ordered from Thompsons, there has been one phone call about 1 day after I receive the order ... I have not answered the phone and I have not received another call from them after that.

To me, the big deal is (aside from the fact that any business is legally obligated to have an opt-out method, which Holts does not) that, as a customer (current or previous), they don't care at all about my requests.

Any business that will disregard the wishes of it's clients is demonstrating piss-poor customer service. I sent 5 polite emails to holts@holts.com and asked multiple times to please be removed from their lists... each mail was ignored and I haven't heard ANYTHING back from them at all.

Had they removed me from their list, I would have continued to browse their site from time to time and possibly even purchased from them again... now, due to the fact that they could care less about the requests of their customers, they won't get another cent from me. To support businesses that behave in this fashion is basically to condone that behavior, and I don't want to do that.

I stopped buying from both Thompson and Holts Long ago because of the prices and the calls. I don't have that problem with CI or Famous or even JRs.

I've never really had problems with either. Well, zero problems with Holts. Thompsons, I simply told the operator to take me off the call list. He did, and they never called again.

Jeez, I get all of them. My Yahoo account overflows with the adds and specials. I've tried to UNSUBSCRIBE to all of them, but it just makes them even more anxious for my business. Good luck, Dan.
