Te-Amo World Selection Series

Anyone ever tried one of these? I mostly smoke cubans but i picked up one of these badboys to try out. Got the Honduran blend Toro - http://www.altadisusa.com/cigar/teamoworld.asp

Smells great, after cutting it, pre-light taste is nice and sweet. Going to go spark'er up.

Interesting. Only the binder is Mexican. This used to be a primarily Mexican cigar, that was on the milder side of medium.

They had an interesting flavor that some people just couldn't stand. I didn't mind em, but they were never a favorite.

I might have one or 2 still in a humi, if I didn't send em overseas.

Re: Te-Amo World Selection Series

wow...sitting here puffing it... um...it sucks.

Tastes like a century sam or a colt whisky or something. Construction is poor, but i guess thats what i get for a cheapo cigar. Had about 5 puffs after the initial disappointment just to give it a chance. I haven't tasted ass before, but i imagine that this is what Ass tastes like. Please just delete this thread, i apologize.

I have a box of 15 Nicaraguan Toros sitting in the humi awaiting the correct moment. But don't mind me I am a big fan of San Andres leaf. I am looking forward to tasting this new blend.

Despite your unpleasant experience I will probably try the other 2 blends as well, the Honduran and Dominican.

Hope you didn't pay too much.

Re: Te-Amo World Selection Series

First cigar I ever smoked was a Tel-Amo World Selection Series Dominican, about a month and a half ago. It wasn't bad, but I really don't have much to compare it to.

Re: Te-Amo World Selection Series

Well, I smoked my Nicaraguan Te-Amo blend last night at my weekly cigar club meeting and I can say that it was thouroughly enjoyable from foot to nub. Smooth, medium body, mildly sweet with subtle leather, not hot, bitter or harsh. This toro was well worth the $2.50 and then some. I am looking forward to the next one… I had purchased a box of 15 from JR.

Great photo!

I was flipping through CA and wondered about the Nicaraguan blend - it is a puro is it not?

Since I am a Nicaraguan tobacco whore, whenever I see a Nicaraguan puro, I usually make a note of it. I might have to try one of these in the future.

I had tried some of these around '96 or so. I had pretty much the same impression. I tried their "maduro" and I use that word in the loosest possible sense. I honestly think that it was a vegetable dye job to be honest, as it had absolutely no traits or characteristics of a maduro other than the color..... the similarities came to a screeching halt at color.

In those days they were strictly a Mexican Puro if I recall correctly.

Judging from your review, not much has changed in these apparently.

One thing for sure is, they are cheap.

Thanks for taking one for the team brother!

Not a Puro but you will recognize that distinctive Nicaraguan taste.

Toro 54 x 6"
Wrapper: Criollo
Binder: San Andres (Mexican)
Filler: Nicaraguan

PaleRider we are talking about TeAmo World Selection Series line of cigars, I believe they where introduced in 2007. Sounds like you might be referring to one of their puros, possibly their Meditation line. A good Mexican puro is not suitable for all palettes

Nice review. Love the picture as always. I have always avoided Te-Amo mostly because I have heard nothing good about Mexican tobacco. I have learned to trust your reviews though so if I run into these I wouldn't hesitate to give em a try.

Re: Te-Amo World Selection Series

This weekend I went to sanborns and found another of these World selection series. But these were Cuban blend series, so I bought 2 of them.

I really dont know if these have any Cuban tobacco in them (don't really think so), but just bought them to try them. I have not smoked them yet, maybe I'll try one this weekend.

I searched the web to see if I could find any info, but didn't find anything besides the Nicaragua, Honduras, Dominican blends.

I had one this morning with a cup of Santa Maria El Salvador Cup of Excellence. Sitting there smoking and sipping while my friend had a Camacho Negro. All was going well until 3/4 of the way through my cigar I found myself greatly effected by the nicotine to the point of havingd to put it down. The Te-Amo was still looking and tasting great but my system just could not handle the nicotine. It took me a few hours to recover. I think my puffing pace was a bit too fast as I think the cigar was a few percent over the optimum RH and I was very aware of taking a few extra draws here and there to ensure it stay lit.

So my goalie friend I feel your pain literally.

I am pretty much a light weight when it comes to morning smokes, let that be a lesson to me
