Tonight's smoke: CAO Cameroon Robusto
I've seen a lot of good reviews of CAO Cameroon on this forum. Personally, I thought it was a quality mild smoke, although it didn't blow me away. On par, perhaps, with the CAO Gold, but not as good as the CAO Brazilia. Very well constructed with an even, medium-rate burn. It may take me a little while to get used to the rectangualr shape -- what is it called?--box-pressed.
I was wondering if there was supposed to be something unique about the cameroon wrapper. I couldn't taste any real difference, and it didn't have the striking aroma or visual appeal of the dark maduro Brazilian wrappers or the reddish Corojo wrappers. Does anyone have an opinion on this? |

Re: Tonight's smoke: CAO Cameroon Robusto
I used to smoke tons of the CAO Anniversarios and CAO Extremes. To me they were excellent smokes but need to be in perfect humidity to be flavorful. I think because of the box pressing they benefited from a 70 or higher humidity.

Re: Tonight's smoke: CAO Cameroon Robusto
I had a friend give me a CAO Cameroon once, smaller than a robusto, and I was shocked that it actually tasted Cuban for the first inch and a half... it went to more of a normal NC after that but that start was incredible.
Overall, a very enjoyable cigar |

Re: Tonight's smoke: CAO Cameroon Robusto
CAO rep was in town a couple weeks ago at local B&M. I had a CAO Cameroon Toro, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Nice flavor. Wonderfully constructed. Not one bit of harshness.
I found it to pack more of a punch than the CAO Gold. The shape does take a bit of getting used to. It's rectangular, wheras most box pressed cigars I've had have been square. If you're looking for a nice medium bodied cigar, you should definitely give the CAO Cameroon a try. |
