Dominican or Nicaraguan

If you had to choose only one, what would it be? With my limited experience, I seem to prefer Nicaraguan cigars over Dominican.

Nicaraguan hands down. For me I like the slight sweetness and Nicaraguan tobacco does not have the bad aftertaste I associate with Dominican tobacco.

Nicaraguan blends & puros, so far, for me, tend to be more exciting flavor wise. On a good day a great Dominican tobacco can be one of the smoothest and most elegant smokes… but mark me down for Nicaraguan. I am a fan of Nicaraguan Rum as well.

I agree with the slight sweetness. Maybe that is why I like Flor de Oliva, Benchmade, and Padron cigars so much. Montecristo#2, I know you really like the Benchmade cigars. Just out of curiosity, how many Benchmade cigars do you smoke a week?

Re: Dominican or Nicaraguan

From the New York Post-

While technically on the Caribbean, Nicaragua is not the first spot we think of for premium rums. But they've been producing Flor de Cana there since 1893, and have a reputation as the "world's most awarded rum," with nearly 100 international medals to its name. The Grand Reserve 7-year-old ($23) is a deeply flavorful spirit, while the 18-year-old Centenario ($45) is so good that it should be a crime to drink it any way but straight or on the rocks.

I'll be picking up some of this tomorrow after work....Who knew?

Thanks again!

I think you might have me confused with someone else. I know Greg (NCRadioMan) speaks highly of the benchmades.

I have actually never had a benchmade believe it or not, but I have heard good things. I should really pick up a couple to try.

I do love Pepin's!
