I think I read somewhere that Oliva had a hand in these.

Re: Famous Nic 3000 Question

They are great smokes!

I would love to find the same blend in a Corona regular instead of that dang box pressed!

Hate box pressed

The original Nic 3000's came from Tabacalera Tropical. They are a bundled smoke and have never been box pressed to my knowledge.

They aren't the typical box pressed cigars.
More like they were rolled like normal cigars but shipped in a too tight box (basically flattened).

Between these and Benchmades, it's hard to pick out which is my favorite bundled cigar. Fortunately, I don't have to.

Is that what it is?
I thought they were actually boxed pressed haha!

Sorry about that. Must be some darn tight packed boxes.

Great tasting smokes no matter.

Re: Famous Nic 3000 Question

When the original Famous Nicaragun 3000's hit the warehouse, they were rumoured to be the leftover stock of an Oliva manufactured cigar for EO Brands called the X. It was box pressed into an oval shape, more or less, and was a very fine cigar (I still have one left somewhere). It had been taken out of production because the Fuente family (makers of Opus X) had sued EO Brands for copyright infringement.

Whether or not, it was the leftover X stock left room for debate (and there was quite a bit of it at the time), but it was a nice bundled cigar.

It still is a nice bundled cigar, but I don't believe it is on a par with the X any longer.

Do you mean that it was the X but is no longer, or that it was and still is the X?

Correction!!

They've always been made by the Oliva family. Tropical has never had anything to do with N3K.

Re: Famous Nic 3000 Question

[SIZE=3]I will include my 3 cents here:

After originally reading this thread and conducting various searching on the internet without success, I decided to give Famous a call direct. I was advised that they would not give out who blends or manufactures the cigar. They did advise me that the "blend" or the "wrapper" has not changed since day one, but there may be a slight variation on the wrapper used (ie, coloration, fermentation time, etc). In addition, I was told since this is a bundled cigar that "they are seconds of a well known cigar" produced in Nicaragua. So, there you go.

For myself, I really enjoy the Nic 3000 Robusto 5x54. Its a dynamite little stick

I don't know who you spoke to from Famous but they are made by Oliva and I doubt they are seconds of anything. Just ask Humberto from Famous. He's the man with a ton of cigar knowledge!!

[SIZE=3]Being an investigator, I deal in facts and not hearsay (and we'll leave Humberto out of this). Since I could not locate any information on the net (published articles, interviews, etc), I decided to go to the source which is Famous. I will not name whom I spoke to there, but feel they are a reliable source than hearsay. At least I secured information which I feel is valid for the person that started this tread and for my own information. If you state that "the Olivas" blend and manufacture the Famous Nicaraguan 3000 (and I think that is fantastic if true), I would think there would be some sort of documented information that you could provide your fellow Gorillas to review, evaluate, and conduct further research on. That's all I'm sayin WN
