Is it just me or are Opus bands nearly impossible to remove.

I have tried a number of way including waiting till the cigar is good and heated and I can almost never get them to come off cleanly. They seem to really damage the wrapper when I take them off. Do they use super glue?

Big B, listen I'm feeling way bad for you. I believe to help you with your pain, please PM me for my address and give me a pass on all you have. I'll send you an equal amount of cigars with the bands already off, or was it they were never on.

Sorry brother, I couldn't help myself.
Merry Christmas

This has been my only complaint about every Fuente product I've had. The glue they use is very stubborn and too much is applied.

The longer they mature the easier it is to get the bands off,,,,,or you can try talking dirty to them and see if that helps,,,worked for me with some old girlfriends.

I've tried the dirty talk...it doesn't work on my old girlfriends. Alcohol does though! But, I don't think you'd want to do that with Opus. I agree with you - they're a bugger to get off!

I think they do this to stop you from taking them off and putting on other cigars and passing them off as Opus

I just had an Opus tonight, and oddly, the band came off easily.

Re: Is it just me or are Opus bands nearly impossible to remove.

Haven't noticed that with Fuente. Almost every Cuban is impossible to remove the band without destroying it and maybe a little piece of the wrapper. The only Cuban band that comes off easily is PSD4 seemingly.

Re: Is it just me or are Opus bands nearly impossible to remove.

i dry box freshies down to about 60% and never have an issue with the bands once i get farther down.

the older they are the easier the bands come off. never had an issue with it damaging the wrapper though.

I agree 100% with Jeremy: 60-62% rh is the way to go for fresh Opus. Past 5 years or so the bands become much easier at even 68% rh.

Re: Is it just me or are Opus bands nearly impossible to remove.

Give it a mean stare and relentlessly make fun of it's appearance maybe you could intimidate it off the stick, you can also try soaking the stick in salt water over night, I heard that it works great at breaking down the glue....if that doesn't work then leave the frickin thing on til the heat of your stick (the cigar cherry) gets close to the band & take it off then.
