Taste buds working again

I just went through a brief period of time where nothing I smoked tasted good. Not bad really, but for a couple of weeks, everything tasted a little off; for whatever reason, the flavor and enjoyment just wasn't there. I'm talking
regulars and favorites that I typically love.

Then, Friday night, I fired up a Fuente 8-5-8, and the magic was back. I enjoyed immensely. Last night, the weather here was warm once again, and I had a Padron 3000 - wow! The cocoa and coffee and spice was all there. And today, I had a Pepin Blue, and the pepper and cream in all it's complexity was there - just as it should be.

So, after a few weeks in "the dead zone", the taste buds are back to normal. I don't have any explanation, as I haven't had a cold or any sickness or been on any medication. I'm just glad it's over.

Re: Taste buds working again

I know what ya mean by having no tastes buds. Once I burnt my tongue when I was trying to eat a hot dog I was roasting over the stove top. The fork I was using got real hot and as the hot dog got shorter I would cook it more, and I didn't know the fork would get so hot so then I burnt my tongue with the fork and it sizzled and hurt real bad. I couldn't taste nothing for a few days.

I had this for a little over a month, but it was due to some sinus issues. That first good cigar after all that was just incredible.

I'm going through that right now with some sinus issues and cold weather. It's no fun knowing your are not getting everything out of your smoke.

Re: Taste buds working again

Been there, too. I go thru periods where the 'taste' just isn't there and it's not because of some cold or sinus issues. Not sure why but when I get it,,,nothing tastes good,,wonder if it is because of some medication issues?

Re: Taste buds working again

I'm nursing my second head cold of the season. This time around I decided to wait it out. Tried to smoke a cigar Saturday afternoon but just couldn't enjoy it with being stuffed up and not feeling well. Obviously having a cold and not having a sense of smell put a damper on the whole experience. I'm hoping by x-mas I'll be able to enjoy the stick I've chosen to celebrate with.
