Going to the Promised Land! Viva Cuba!

Have our trip booked! The girlfriend (CohibaChick) and I are going Jan. 4th - 11th. Can't beat the prices, cheaper then going anywhere in Canada for a week. Warm weather, free drinks, smooth cigars and many bikinis lying on the beach (don't tell the girlfriend about that last one, lol). Doesn't get much better than that. My only dilema is we can bring back up to four boxes of cigars. Sadly my humidor only has space for about one box max. I could bring my old humi out of retirement but it'd only hold a box at most.

I guess there could be worse things to be worried about.

I'm not rubbing it in.....well maybe a tiny bit.

sounds like the start of a coolidor to me

I have been thinking about a trip later in the spring myself, will have to wait and see if I can get the time off.

ziplock bags work in a pinch (gallon size). not maxing out your box allowance is tantamount to punching your grandma in the temple

If you're in the U.S. you can't even legally travel to Cuba. But the OP is in Canada.

I use this all the time.
Works great.
I use a stick of "humistat" for every box in a zip lock bag.
Humidity holds just great.

CohibaMan,
Just curious.
I hear that in Cuba, they automatically take 20% of whatever money you take with you.
I have heard this from Cubans who visit there and also from a Mexican I recently met in Cozumel.
May be a great deal when you booked it but this is a cost you may have to consider.
Don't know if they do that to Canadians also.

You can travel there under limited circumstances.
The most common is on a religious mission.

If you are Cuban American and have family there, you can go once every three years (totally on your own with a Cuban Passport, not recognized as a US citizen the minute you set foot on Cuban soil, so basically, you may or may not return).

Haven't had that problem before. What they may be talking about is the exchange rate. When the US devalued the Cuban Peso Cuba had to create a new currency that tourists could use. they came up with the Cuban Convertable Peso (CUC). The exchange rate is about 1.20 CAD so that may be what they are talking about. Other then that you have to pay 25CUC when you leave the country but that is fairly common for Latin American destinations.

Going to Cayo Santa Maria. We had been planning on going to Veradaro but this time of the year the prices are a bit too high compared to where we ended up choosing. My third time and the gf's second time.
