This is a discussion on The Padron 1926 no. 9 Natural or Madura. Which won top 25? within the General Cigar Discussion forums, part of the The Cigar Lounges at Puff category; I've only smoked 5 of the C.A. top 25 of 1997 and the Padron 1926 No. 9 is not one ...

The Padron 1926 no. 9 Natural or Madura. Which won top 25?
I've only smoked 5 of the C.A. top 25 of 1997 and the Padron 1926 No. 9 is not one of them... Having topped the list it seems like a safe bet to buy 3 or 4 if not a whole box... the price is on par with some of my fave Cu smokes and I do like the size...
Was it the Natural or the Maduro that won top ranking? Is it really that good or is the rating a very subjective thing? I have actually never had a Padron and I will be curious as to how it stacks up against my favorite Robusto (Cu Partagas Serie D No. 4) Best of the Season to one & all! Lx |

How could it not be subjective?

I don't know the 1997 ranks but on average at least they way I remeber the maduro seems to rank higher for most Padrons - just a guess though.

Looks like it was the natural: http://www.cigaraficionado.com/Cigar...2007_1,00.html
The #9 is probably my favorite Padron--superior, in my mind, to the 40 and the 80. Comparing to a PSD4? Hmm... to my palette, the Padrons are earthier, and at times you get traces (lord forgive me, I'm going to sound like James Suckling here) of a bitter chocolate sweetness (esp. in the maduro). The PSD4 is quite simply my favorite cigar. You won't get the kick or that "tang" from a Padron, or any other NC, for that matter (although Pepin comes close, esp. Tatuaje) |
