Max # of brands in your humidor is...

I know, no true answer to this question but the longer I smoke the more I turn to a particular brand and shape of cigar.

Are you a brand and/or shape loyalist?

How many different brands or sticks of your favorite do you keep in your humidor?

Re: Max # of brands in your humidor is...

When I first started smoking cigars 2 years ago, I was out buying many different brands, to find out what I liked and didn't like.

It's so true when they say..your tastes will change from the day you started till now.

Example: I started out with..and just had to have box pressed maduro's.

Now I only keep 4 brands in my humidor..I'm done keeping a ton of different brands on hand, until I get my Coffee table humidor.

I keep on hand - Diamond Crown #5 - Nub (Connecticut 35 - Oliva V (double Robusto) - Ashton Aged Maduro #10

Re: Max # of brands in your humidor is...

I am new (little less than a year), so I have a ton of different brands. I have moved on from pretty mild smokes to some stronger ones, and the most I have of any one brand is 6 La Flor Dominicana's, including a chiselito which has been staring at me for a while. I do have a number of Rocky Patels, but no more than one of each brand. If I had to pick a "go to" now, it would be a Oliva V.

I do try new sticks based on positive reviews (here and elsewhere), but in terms of "core" brands, I stock Tatuaje (a new addition to the inner circle), Ashton VSG, Padron, Oliva and Partagas (ISOM).

By the answers I would guess that this thread will work out to be more of a guide to who preferres what.... nice thread! bump!

...but getting a little more on subject, I wouldn´t say that shape or size would make a difference for me other than I prefer Petite coronas on almost every stogie I smoke other than a psd4 robusto...

Re: Max # of brands in your humidor is...

Myself I keep multiple boxes of what I enjoy for my daily rotation. e.g. Gran Habano #5 Corojo I have 1 box of the Robusto Grand and 1 box of the Imperiales. I keep 1 box on hand of 3 siglos. I keep 1 box of the CAO Criollo, 1box of the JFR Criollo Robusto. 1 box of Punch Double Corona Maduro, 4 boxes of JdN Antano 1970 Robusto Grande, and a box or so of RyJ's and Montecristo's in the blends from specific regions that I enjoy.

As I also do reviews for an online publication I have multiple different 2'ers in various brands and vitolas, mostly dictated by what I think has potential to be good as well as the requirements of the publication. These can number in excess of 50 in any given week, depending on aging requirements, and how caught up I am.

My personal preference in terms of vitola is Robusto, Robusto Grand, and Toro's, with a periodic Churchill to change things up. I prefer Nicaraguan blends for my personal use.

At any given time I may have upwards of 15-20 different bands lurking in my various humis.

Re: Max # of brands in your humidor is...

Roughly 100 assorted yard 'gars, three different Thompson house brands. Smokeable, but nothing great.

50 assorted Gurkhas, 25 assorted Victor Sinclair from a sampler. 120 assorted 5 Vegas, several LGC's (30-40?), some miscellaneous 601's, Pepins, Partagas, Bolivar, Cohiba Red dot, a few Fuentes, several Perdomos, several Rocky Patels, mostly seconds and X-outs, but not all. A couple of Alec Bradleys, a couple of Opi. One or two LFD's. Half-dozen Macanudo Ascots. I'm sure I'm forgetting a few.

1/3 to 1/2 are torpedoes, but I have everything from PC's to Churchills. Around half are maduro. I have definite favorites, but I'm liable to smoke just about any of them on a given night. I might have been thinking about a particular cigar all day, and when I reach in the cooler I'll grab something completely different.

I may be slightly insane.

While I may eventually choose to stick with a particular brand if I like it 'that much', I'm really enjoying the journey I've only begun this year in sampling just a fraction of all the wonderful varieties of cigars out there for us.

I dove right in early on and bought a Vino in the early Fall and the sucker is filling up fast with a multitude of different brands, sizes and shapes.

While I have some that I lean towards as being the 'best' I've had 'so far' (like the Rocky Patel Decade, the Rocky Patel Vintage 1990 that was aged for a couple of years by Cigary, the Padron 1964 Anniversario, the Cusano Double Connecticut, Oliva Special S, Oliva Master Blends 3, etc.), I'm still sampling and have received bombs from very generous BOTL's on here....so I've got to say, thanks to those awesome gents who've expanded my horizons and some aggressive purchasing early on on my part, I've got about....50 different brands going now, maybe?

Re: Max # of brands in your humidor is...

Fav shapes:

I tend to look at RG first, I usually like something between a 48 and a 54 (there are exceptions though, like the ERDM rectangulare). From there, I like to keep a variety of lengths in stock, for different smoking occasions. I have a 30ct humi just for robustos, probably 20 to 30 assorted torpedoes about 6" long, a small handful of churchills (maybe 10 or so), and the rest (probably another 30-40) are toros. I do keep some small cigars around for the odd quick smoke break, but for the most part, if I don't have an hour to spare, I don't smoke. I try and get my stronger smokes in a robusto or toro/torpedo size, while I like my churchills to be a touch milder since they can build up quite a bit before the end (mmm Perdomo lot 23 churchill).

Fav Brands:

I'm still pretty much a 5-pack buyer. I think the most I have of any 1 cigar is 8 LGC torpedoes. I would guess I probably have 25-30 varieties in my humis with a total of about 80-100 smokes.

Re: Max # of brands in your humidor is...

I have 4 humis and a coolerador so in my OCD world I keep RP in one humi, Cubans in another, Partagas in the third one and the 4th is a free for all. I keep my travel humi as a dry box. As far as shapes go I have all kinds,,,,I'm into diversity when it comes to my cigars,,,hate to leave one out for fear of any blowback.

Re: Max # of brands in your humidor is...

Tough question to answer as I have not really counted them. I would guess about 25 to 30. There are no more than five that are my favs and appear on my regular rotation (anything DPG, LJDN, Camacho, Padilla, El Gran Habano)

Re: Max # of brands in your humidor is...

I've got three full humis, each with ten plus different brands of cigars. I have my favorites, of which I usually have 25+ on hand. These would be Hoyo de Monterrey Governors candela, Arturo Fuente Spanish Lonsdale candela, Arturo Fuente Seleccion Privada #1 candela, Hoyo de Tradicion Toro, Por Larranaga Corona Gorda natural, Arganese CL3. Besides those, I have loads of singles that I bought or were gifted to me. There are other great smokes out there that I have to get from time to time, but never buy in large numbers.
